Poppy Z. Brite used to have a mailing list and upon receiving it I noticed a stamp on the envelope depicting a skeleton of conjoined twin babies. I still have it in a tiny little frame. If you like Poppy Z. Brite I'd HIGHLY recommend Caitlin R. Kiernan, another trans author who was pretty popular in that circle of authors during the 90s/early 00s for her novel Silk. I'd say PZB was more influenced by Burroughs and CRK falls into the cosmic horror/Lovecraftian vein. My CRK novel is The Drowning Girl, it's just a masterpiece but she also writes a lot of short fiction -- Houses Under the Sea is a great story to whet/wet your appetite/feet. If you like Ligotti, or cosmic horror in general, then here's some people to check out: John Langan (particulary the story The Wide Carnivorous Sky)
