A Video Essay about Yu-Gi-Oh.
Hello lovelies.
It's been a bit since last I posted, which I'm trying to get better about but I typically like my ideas to be more full formed before I say words in public. Today, I am happy to tell you all about a new video essay. I've wanted to get back to what I'm good at and known for, for awhile. There have been a lot of speed bumps to that, obviously: I was in an abusive relationship for 6 months, I didn't have much to any passions because they were stripped away from me and replaced with stress and also just...transitioning is weird, yo.
Anyways, I'm happy to tell you that there's a nearly fully formed video essay preparing to meet your eyes and I'm proud to say it's my best one. Ever. I'm back and better than ever. This video is actually a lot of things and it may surprise you. An awful lot of it is about being lower class and having a best friend and being a dork and loving silly shit and just...all of that. I made this video because of my best friend and with my best friend. While the video is entirely my words, it's a huge part Azrael's as it is mine.
But there's more: I've found another editor. I'm currently awaiting a cut of all the stuff we've shot thus far but I have a ton of faith in my editor and friend George. If all goes well, we're talking about bringing him on to the team. This will get videos back to a place where I can efficiently make them while also putting all my effort and time into scripting and filming, my actual passions. I tend to really drag my feet on editing because it's just really not something I enjoy, but damn George has gotten a lot done in three days time. This could mean a lot of good things for the channel. More, better content again, with the level of craft that you've come to expect from me.
It's been a hard fucking year y'all. Easily the worst of my life. Transitioning, it turns out, is hard as hell. It's even worse when you're being abused for six months. It's even harder when you have to do it in front of a camera and deal with constant harassment. It's even harder when all the people you think are your friends are really just looking for fame and clout. It's been difficult, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. If this video says anything, loud and proud, it's that I'm a lot better now and I'm gonna really live my passions this year. I've always been weird. I've always been the weirdest person that I know, who is into all the weirdest shit. I'm going to keep being that weirdo, this time I'm just not ashamed of that.
