So this Madea video???

Hello everyone,

First things first, I mailed all of your letters and there were like 70 of them and that took forever. Have you ever had to sign and address and ship 70+ of anything? Well neither have I until this week. That's one of those things that you think, "oh yeah honey, I can do that no problem." But then you do it and it just nearly kills you. What a week.

Anyways, they're shipped out and they have little drawings and notes all over them and I hope you like them, and I'm so glad you're all here for me to write to until my arms fall off. SO ANYWAYS, THAT MADEA VIDEO!

Lemme paint you a picture, alright? It was about three or so months ago and I started writing a video, no an EDICT, NO A THESIS on the films of Tyler Perry. No joke, I wrote 10,000 words on him and his films, and I still have this document on my computer. I swear this happened, and all the folks on Discord heard all about it. Back me up, mkay?

But here's the thing, I got to a point where I realized that I probably couldn't do it. Or at least it wasn't taking real shape. It was sorta stagnating into feigning understanding and I realized that I was compensating for a lack of real humor or a point or true understanding, with writing long descriptive diatribes about him or his work. I realized it would not actually be a good, entertaining, funny, or generally thought-provoking video. MISTAKE!

So instead I whipped up the Gooby draft that I had been working on in the back of my catalog of stuff. And that script took less than a day to put together whereas the Madea video took MONTHS. So I was shockingly more confident with that Gooby thing than my passion project for months, what the hell is that?!

So I ditch the script, I mean I still have it by I gave up on it. There was too much structurally wrong with it to be able to meaningfully use the script to make something more affecting. I realized it was holding me back from doing something better on the fly. I hadn't even really thought about it after that. It was like a breakup, and I had moved on. 

Then two nights ago I get on a livestream and for whatever reason Tyler Perry comes up and I start speaking from authority on the whole thing because, well, I HAD to become and expert on everything he ever did in order to make that video. I start talking about him and I get deeper into it and then suddenly over an hour had passed and the audience was so engrossed in the points I was making. Like, it became the fascinating discussion that I wanted the video to ultimately be. But unfortunately, this led a whole lot of people to really get behind me giving it a try and making this video again. 

So here I am, back in the same place with this script, only this time I'm gonna go about it in way that puts things like humor and structure and my points in the forefront and not get bogged down trying to convince anyone that he's a genius or anything, he's not. He's more-or-less a hateful, self absorbed, asshole that takes advantage of his audiences who never question the bullshit he sells to them, but in such a fantastical way. I mean, he's the weirdest multi-millionaire filmmaker we have right now. 

So that's my angle right there, I want to demonstrate that he is fantastically bizarre and his films should be read into and you should see the crazy shit he's putting out. But at the same time, I can't get bogged down trying to understand him because there really isn't that much to understand. Thing is, no matter why he thinks what he thinks, he's wrong and mean-spirited and hateful and my video is not going to be mean-spirited or hateful. I'm going to try my best to understand his work but he, as a person, is a bit past really understanding, he's just fascinating. 

I don't know if I will be successful in this endeavor, but it has become very clear that folks are interested in giving it my best shot. I suppose that's all that matters, I want to make an entertaining and mentally engaging piece of content that really gets folks to think about his stuff and hopefully see some of it. 

So that's where I'm at. Let's see where it takes me.
