How Do You Play Hazelnut Latte?
Hello everyone! We've been meaning to ask this for a while, but now that the demo is out, we figured it was the best time to check in with everyone.
We develop Hazelnut Latte primarily for computers, whether you use Windows, Linux, or macOS. We envision Hazelnut Latte as a desktop or laptop experience, and we make decisions with that in mind.
When we first started making the game, it was a PC experience, but people asked for Android, so we figured it out and made it happen. We always assumed this was a small portion of the player base.
When we release a build, Google Drive does not give us stats on which build gets the most downloads. But Itch? We have download statistics from Itch. Here is what the first few days of the Demo showed us.
62% of people playing the demo did so on an Android device.
That was honestly shocking and also made us cry.
So with that in mind, we thought it best to ask everyone a very important question. Your answers will help shape future design decisions.
What Device Do You Primarily Play Hazelnut Latte On?

Android simply for two reasons, one I'm too broke for any form of PC and two I have really bad eye sight so anything else is blinding 😭
If I can play something on PC/Mac I prefer that, even mobile games when they have a PC client.
Sorry for the late vote I didn't see this post! Android because I don't have a PC sadly.
I only play it on android, i dont really have pc to play this
Guess i'm just strange. I hate playing games on such a small screen (or maybe i'm just blind) PC all the way.
PC, BUT I did just get a Steam Deck so i might play it on that if i can...soooo Linux Adjacent?
Windows currently, but I love games with Linux support and am considering switching back to linux in the future. Please dont drop support
I play on PC (laptop) but not the "conventional way". I don't like to be near the screen, I plug my laptop to my TV on my bedroom, I use my wireless mouse, so I play one handed. I would appreciate if the game helps my smallest sector with things like, no keyboard inputs like words or ESC to open menus, we have right click, a skip button instead of holding Ctrl or holding left click. If you plan to add a store in game or some mechanic that you need to put numbers it will help a lot if you put arrows, an "enter" button that confirm my selection and a back button to cancel my selection or allowing right click to do this, recently I found games that have that kind of mechanics but partially, that have the arrows in the stores but not in puzzles, or they have the right click to cancel transaction but they don't have an enter butter to confirm so I have to get up to push a single key, they're not on unity but still
We will consider complete mouse support. But at the moment, you can skip and open menus with just the mouse using the options in the top right.
Can't play these types of games on my PC cause I get paranoid that someone will walk into my room and see some spicy stuff. Much more comfortable laying down and reading VN's anyways
I use Linux primarily ever since Windows 11 started giving constant driver issues. It's incredibly tedious to have to reinstall the USB drivers, wifi drivers, or lord forbid gpu drivers. I have a gaming laptop and as with every other part of gaming its fairly tedious whereas its supposed to be fairly straightforward. I do still use windows, but not for itch, the app feels great on Linux in my opinion and so I prefer that. I think my largest driving factor to playing on Linux vs android is partially from newer devices becoming more tedious to sideload due to them wanting to prevent unauthorized apps but also the fact that my laptop has a higher quality screen, more ram, more processing power and generally seems to have less errors pop up than most android versions of VNs I have interacted with. On computer I can also dig around the files easier if I desired which isn't a common occurrence but its definitely nice to have. Overall I prefer sitting at the computer mostly due to the fact that it handles animations better than my tablet and for some games that does really matter
I play on both, windows and android
Linux, but because I’m on iOS, I stream the game via Moonlight to my phone. It’d be funny to have an ipa that I can sideload, but as a fellow iOS developer, I don’t think the effort is worth it :)
My first playthroughs were all on PC, but as life got busier it made a lot of sense to check back in on android. I'm sure my next proper playthrough will be PC
I personally switch between PC and Android pretty arbitrarily. Mostly PC tho.
Android, purely out of convenience, and lack of a personal computer. Lets me read through while out and about.
I was intrigued by the android download, I've never really tried it and I've mostly used the windows version
I play both Linux and Android, but mainly android. Oh and the HD version crashes a lot might worth checking.
That's why we made the LQ version for Android. Seems like many devices have a very low tolerance for maximum texture size. Sadly this causes compression... It's something we will look into. - Lotus
Ngl, I prefer reading VNs when I'm lying on my bed, I relax more and I like to read a bit before sleeping. When I'm seated I tend to bend closer to the screen and I remember about that shrimp posture and correct it immediately lol. But overall, if you're going to release only in PC that's okay, I always look for options to remote control my PC.
I have tried to download it several times for android to bring with me places, but usually just fall back to using PC.
I don't even have PC 😅
I have a machine that lets me watch Youtube and YouTube tv. I think it's supposed to be a laptop 😅
Damn I’m part of the 2.8% lol
Mostly android but also pc Edit: and yeah, I voted lol
Mainly windows, but when I get a better phone I might consider downloading it there too
