An “olden days” cookbook

Hello everyone,

I have always loved old fashioned / medieval gameplay, and something I have wanted to do since I started making foods was to create an old fashioned cookbook.

But the task seemed quite daunting starting from scratch and I’m aware there are already some incredible medieval food mods out there!

I wanted to see if there was any or a lot of interest for me to create something like this?

Think maybe wooden bowls, silver platters, roasted pheasant and baked apples, barley ale and seed bread…

Especially since it looks like we might be having a Kingdoms/Royalty EP on the horizon 😍

I am late to conversation I just found you - but there are so many medieval recipes to find on pinterst for medieval celebrations, drinks, stuff that medieval royal ate and so on...

Idk if it'd be possible, but you could Collab with LBB and make add-ons to the Medieval Cookbook they have going on? So it's just the items, and we don't need yet another interface (I'll download it anyway bc I already have like six mod cookbooks in my shelves lol but it'd be cool)

A Stone Age/ early civilization one might be really cool, same idea with leaf plates or wood plates, but castaway or nomadic type recipes

Your take is always special and different, you should have your own ;)

This is so kind Julia, thank you. :)

Maybe you can make a more royal version, as the mods that already exist have generally more a peasants style of cooking. I also hope to see more recipes for you Occult recipebook one day 🙏🏻

What sort of things would you like to see as historical 'royal' foods? :)

Omg this would be perfect!!! Especially since the next pack is royalty themed.

I would love to see a Regency or Victorian cookbook. It would be something new and fresh because we already have a medieval cookbook from LBB and an antique cookbook by Balkanika.

I have 17 usable cookbooks spread around my sim's kitchen. Would love another!!!

Me too lol we need an addon to access them all through one item, it'd be so much easier o.o

I for one second the idea of a vintage, throwback cookbook. I think it would be great to gift to another and pass down. Lots of casseroles would be fun...hearty meals and lots of desserts ...would be great to take to your neighbors :)

Such cute ideas!

Could I throw in a suggestion of maybe some different style versions of your cookbook? A tablet, or a closed stack of books, or whatever. Thank you.

I was just thinking this morning about what would be a cool object for this :)

Can you make it compatible with Littlbowbub' s Medieval Hunting and Foraging Mod? She has a medieval cookbook, maybe you can reach out to her and implement your recipes together ♥️

Yes... I've been exclusively playing Medieval for a year and a half. I love the LBB mod, but I'll definitely be checking back if you decide to make a cookbook like that. I can't get enough of wooden bowls and boards. Silver too. I'll take anything that's not modern. P.S. I use your recipes, even though not all of them suit my gameplay... I overlook them because they're great. Best regards, and thank you for your work.

TianaSims · January 12, 2026

Thanks Anna :) I am exactly the same, I'm not really a 'modern' game-player, I love anything that is old fashioned!

Honestly, the fact that someone else already has an "olden days" cookbook should not stop you from creating your own. There's room for everyone at the table and it's not like you're going to be copying what she does (since Littlbowbub has specifically been mentioned). We can already see that you bring originality in your own cookbook, so I'm sure you'd be original with your "Olden Days" cookbook as well. I think if this is something you're passionate about, you should go for it! People that want to use it will use it, people that don't want to use it won't use it. But don't let the fact that it's been done before stop you from pursuing something you're genuinely interested in.

Thank you Ashley, I feel the same. ❤️ I am soooo itching to make my own style of recipes and do my own thing creatively. I have so many ideas...!!

I'd love to see more recipes for the occult cookbook or maybe some recipes from the early 1900s! Whatever you decide will be great though!

I'd love vintage recipes! Molds/Aspic/Bologna Salad/Waldorf Salad. I'm currently playing through the 50s era and am getting burnt out on all the "modern" recipes out there. LittleBowBub has the olde cookbook but it's more gruel and soupy things.

N
Natalie Brown · January 11, 2026

I'd prefer more recipes for the Occult Recipebook, personally. LittleBowBub already has an old-time cookbook. However, more occult recipes would be really nice to have for a high fantasy/royalty save.

J

i second this! i always add fantasy creatures to my historical saves and your occult recipebook is my fav thing to use, i always find myself wishing it had more recipes for all the different occults. especially since your meals adding buffs to sims who eat them is really good for storytelling :)

N
Nea Emrys · January 11, 2026

Personally I would like more recipes for the occult cookbook instead, and have that one fixed.

Littlebowbub has one already

T

Yes I know, that’s why I am making a poll ☺️ I love it, but hers is specifically medieval though, I’m thinking also maybe more of “old fashioned” style foods and some European + US recipes
