The voice crack in Luffy’s voice always hits me 😢
Boy if zoro saw this 😂😂
"DONT HIT HER" you think sanji of all ppl would hit a girl lol
I can’t believe you two have reached this arc… I haven’t been keeping up with your One Piece reactions in general, but I think I will start keeping up now. This arc destroyed me back when; I finished this arc in Spring 2018, and have only watched like 50 episodes since then… I say because I got my heartstrings tugged at so hard by all the things that go on in this arc. Once you two get into Wano, I will probs have my first-time watch of the episodes via your reaction videos. Grateful for you two in all your investment of time and energy into this series 🫶🏼
Booo 👎🏾. What in the dog shit episode did I watch. Ben 10 has more back story than this trash show.
That moment of silence after episode ends crazy that’s it’s raining and that’s all I hear. 😞
When this all ends and One Piece closes the final chapter...the world will need a day to adjust and heal and figure out what will fill this space, the void that One Piece will leave
for everyone saying zoro would have killed sanji in this arc if he was there, truly misunderstand zoro’s character😭 zoro didn’t jump in the fight when luffy fought against usopp, so what makes y’all think he would jump in here? Zoro respects luffy enough that if Luffy told him to stand down and not help him fight sanji, that’s exactly what he would do. Y’all act like Zoro is some emotionless assassin that would kill anyone that harms luffy when that’s not the case. Also Zoro cares about Sanji, so he’s not just gonna kill him like that😭
I definitely feel you on the football take Ron, it was basketball for me. I cried so much thinking my life was over.
in the manga he eats his leg
Now Mr. Prince in Alabasta as his nickname makes sense
This is the reason why zoro is not in this arc he would have killed sanji.
idk why y’all keep saying this, zoro would not have killed sanji😭. zoro didn’t jump in on the usopp vs luffy fight so what makes y’all think he’d jump in on this fight? y’all make it seem like he has no emotions, and is just a killer
Ron stop your shit lmaooo
These episodes always remind me how special and rare Luffy is an MC and a captain. You're literally watching him grow up right in front of our eyes, from the fight of Usopp till now he literally grows as a captain
if Zoro was there to witness this betrayal, he would slice yo boy Sanji asap
Ok. For the ones who dont get why all this happened. If you know who Sanji is You know why he did all this. Zeff is basically Sanji's dad And we know the Vinsmokes are A-holes who would take any of the people Sanji cares about to use against him. Thats his greatest weakness. Hes seen how strong they are and he doesnt want any of his friends to get hurt. If you know Sanji, you know his self-sacrificial nature. He is willing to die in place of those he cares about. He cant leave because Zeff is in danger. Luffy doesnt know all that and he knows that his whole family is there and Luffy cant beat them all on his own plus he cant help Luffy in a fight right there. So driving them away somehow is his best idea. he cant straight up tell them He knows how stubborn Luffy is Luffy is gonna want to fight whoever gets in his way. thats not an option here. But Luffy knows every member of his crew inside and out. He knows Sanji loves cooking, he loves his friends and will die for them. And he believes in Luffys dream just as much as Zoro does. We see this displayed in Thriller Bark when Kuma attacked them. He was willing to die for Luffy. Thats why things played out like this here. Because the two things Sanji CANNOT do-they go against his CODE as a man. He would NEVER hit back Nami. If he did that hes truly gone And he will never sit and let anyone that is hungry die of hunger. Luffy knows that better than anyone.
Luffys approach to this is a big stark contrast from when he fought Usopp. He escalated that conflict where with here he wanted to give Sanji the space to be honest, but we saw what happened here.
Zoro would never
SYBAU
Btw ODA said this is why Zoro could not be in this arc he would’ve killed Sanji even if luffy said no Zoro would’ve murked Sanji for this
are we sure oda says this? cause that would be out of character for zoro, especially when he stayed out of the luffy vs usopp fight because luffy stated they were having a duel. i don’t think zoro would kill sanji like he’s an emotionless killing machine😭
Zeff did eat his leg on the Manga
After 807 episodes of Luffy saying he'll become the King of the Pirates, he tells Sanji in this episode 808, "Without you, I can't become the King of the Pirates." That's even deeper than saying "I love you." Don't tell me you love me. Tell me your deepest desire, then tell me you can't achieve it without me.
omg Ron was PISSED while watching that lmao. I don't blame him.
I thought Ron was reading the manga? Anyhow, Zeff DID eat his leg! They had to censor it in the anime.
I felt like shit when DBZ ended in GT. At least that’s when it ended until decades later. But Ron your football story hit hard. That’s how it’s like when you create brothership in HS Sport. Never thought Onepiece would end even though current arc suggest it is. That thought never comes to me until you mention. Now my heart skip a beat like liberation. Well it did skip a beat.
A lot more “rough” arcs to go brother and sisters.
The crazy part is that there is still so many more epic moments in this arc! One of the best arcs in the show for me.
This arc for me really elevated Sanji as a character. Before I thought he was alright, but he became one of my favorites. Cool character
Lmao, Sanji and Zoro dont hate each other at all. Alot of the shit talking they do is out of respect and when the situation is serious with the crew, theyre on the same page. When the matter with Usopp took place, Zoro understood why Sanji kicked Luffy and Sanji understood why Zoro said what he said. They often act as Luffy's heart(Sanji) and mind(Zoro).
Zeff actually did eat his leg in the manga, he didn't have his leg stuck underwater, he straight up cut it on the little island just to eat it 😅
one of my favorite episodes being also sanji is my favorite straw hat now we wait for ep 825
Have you guys seen the video of the guys calling the gambling help hotline and betting whether it’s going to be a male or female that answers the phone and then they hang up immediately😂😂 that reminds me of Ron
3:00 I take the Over ron no hesi
Rons ragebaits are funny as shit to me lmao
41:55 he did in the manga tbf
I think Sanji just gets a bit triggered by Zoro's green hair because it reminds him of his brother Yonji. But otherwise, it's clear that the two of them have nothing else in common 😂 I mean, Zoro is definitely the closest thing Sanji has to a brother. The two constantly argue, fight, and challenge each other, but when things get serious, they stand by one another without hesitation, just like real brothers do. Even though on the surface it often seems like they can't stand each other, it is clear that they deeply respect one another and share a profound, brotherly bond. And it’s so wild to me that I actually heard people say, after they watched those episodes, that Sanji was a dirty traitor and that Zoro would beat him to a pulp, or even kill him, if he’d seen what Sanji did to Luffy. It just goes to show that these people have absolutely no grasp of subtext and probably only watch One Piece through edited clips on YouTube or TikTok. If Zoro had been on Whole Cake Island and witnessed that fight, he wouldn't have done a thing, just like back in Water Seven during Luffy’s fight with Usopp. Those are battles for Luffy to fight, not him. That's Luffy’s responsibility as captain, after all. He also knows full well that Luffy wouldn't want him to interfere. But above all, Zoro is one of the people who knows Sanji best. Just like Luffy, he would instantly realize that Sanji isn't acting this way because he wants to, but because he feels forced to. Zoro wouldn't want to beat Sanji up or kill him. He would most likely respect Sanji’s decision to give up everything (the freedom and happiness of his life with the Straw Hats and himself) solely to save his friends. And that is because Zoro is the kind of person who would do exactly the same thing, as we already saw during the Thriller Bark arc
The voicecrack gets me everytime, incredible performance from Mayumi Tanaka
This is hard to watch guys...Im pissed so bad at Sanji at first time watching , but now I'm crying without single ounce of anger in me
Guys zeff actually ate his leg in the manga lol
I guess nonstop eyecatchers also caught you guys off guard. Congrats to Ron for another 2 points. Nami called Sanji just Sanji instead of Sanji-kun at the end she really pissed off or disappointed to him ED1 at the end is gold.
Katakuri mentionn!!
That brook mention means more than they know 😭
I don't know why but I found it so funny when Michelle said "Don't hit her." when Nami slapped Sanji, because it's like something Sanji would literally never do. We'd sooner see Sanji become the World's Greatest Swordsman before he ever hit a woman 😭
Zoro shade detected
My favorite scene in the entire show luffys character shines the most in this moment I’m so glad we made it 🥹
Worth the wait for sure
Luffy telling Sanji that he cannot become King of the Pirates without him hits like a truck. For someone like LUFFY to say that is insane, the guy who in the past 800 episodes has never once wavered on his goal yet for the first time, admits that if Sanji isn't on his crew then he cannot achieve status of Pirate King.
Sanji is truly one of the kindest characters I've ever encountered in fiction, he is the epitome of selflessness. In this triple drop you see how he is sacrificing his life practically to not only protect Zeff, his surrogate father, but also to protect Luffy and the crew from Big Mom. As a character that was shown little kindness throughout his life, those who have shown him it are deeply cherished and he would lay his life down for them in a heartbeat. Even thinking back to when we first met Bartholomew Kuma in the Thriller Bark arc, there's a small moment that is usually forgotten because it's overshadowed by Zoro's "Nothing Happened" but Sanji actually tries to offer his own life up and tank Luffy's pain instead of Zoro but Zoro decides to knock Sanji out and do it instead. It's both heartbreaking yet commendable because Sanji has this tendency to self-sacrifice because on one hand he is kind and selfless but on the other he believes himself to be worthless and unworthy of being saved so he takes on the burdens for people and he lays his life down for them. Truly a beautifully written character, it's a shame he gets mischaracterised so much within the community.
Perfectly written. Love it!
Peak!
Finally
A tough watch and a tough one to keep track of those wanted posters. - Wanted Poster Guessing Game - Michelle = 11 Points (~19.0 % Success Rate) Ron = 12 Points (~20.7 % Success Rate) Total Guesses: 58
zoro would never
when i first watched whole cake i genuinely hated sanji even though i understood what was happening and why. still lowkey hate him but i can’t deny his character writing is peak especially where his character is currently. oda really makes u pay attention to every detail
In the manga he did eat his leg
Zeff DID eat his leg. The love action adopted it that way because that is how it was in the manga. They sensored it in the anime. I am sure you have been told, but I think you forgot
holy L spoilers in the episodes lmao
"Without you I can't become King of the Pirates" always hits hard
I heard Oda actually cries when writing these bombshells and I understand that
I think Luffy's decision not fight back had alot to do with his fight with Usopp. Luffy cried after fighting Usopp saying it was tough so now he never wants to fight his crew members again to go through that feeling again.
Luffy is not that selfish to not take a duel seriously. He saw through Sanji, he knew that Sanji did not want this. Usopp freely chose to challenge Luffy to a duel.
Family problems can be incredibly messy, even in real life. You can’t always just punch your way through them and expect everything to be resolved. Sanji’s situation is even more complicated than an ordinary family conflict — he is caught between his powerful biological family and a Yonko, surrounded by enemies with seemingly no way out. And every form of leverage is painfully personal. Zeff’s life is being used as blackmail — probably the greatest threat anyone could hold over Sanji. He believes the explosive cuffs could take away the hands that define his life as a cook. And now his nakama have come all the way into Whole Cake Island for him, putting themselves directly in danger, with no guarantee that any of them can make it out safely. But what makes the situation truly heartbreaking is Sanji himself. His deeply rooted low self-worth makes asking for help almost unbearable. He spent his childhood being branded a failure — weak, useless, and pathetic — so admitting that he is powerless and needs to be saved risks reopening the very wound he has carried all his life. On some level, it almost validates the identity his family forced upon him as a child. And we’ve seen this pattern in Sanji all along: when someone has learned to value the lives of the people they love above their own, self-sacrifice can begin to feel less like a sacrifice and more like the obvious choice. His instinct is always to make himself the expendable one if it means everyone else gets to walk away. That’s the tragedy of his situation. The external threats leave him with no choices, while his own sense of self-worth keeps pushing him toward the one choice that hurts him the most.
Love your comment. I think it's also so sad that he has asked for help before. Loads of times when he was a kid. But his father did nothing. So what good would it do him if he did indeed ask for help? He truly is one of the best written characters in OP <3
Honestly, I want to comment soo bad about what you said about the end of one piece and everyone is gonna be crying but I feel like it will spoil some of the things they will say in the future, so I'm just gonna say, I don't want one piece to end T.T
The music is so good
Probably top 3 arc for me. It's one of Oda's best imho. Glad you're enjoying it!
Luffy’s VA has to be one of the goats of the industry. Her acting makes so many scenes. That slight crack in Luffy’s voice when he yells after Sanji…ugh, it breaks me every time
Gets me every time 🤧
Well this was not a duel not like when he fight usupp in here luffy didn't even attack sanji
you know shit hit hard when we start to talk about real world problems.
Also, now knowing that Reiju and his mom were the only people from his family, that really cared for him kind of shows why Sanji acts like that in front of women or doesn't hit one
so true! many of the viewers/fans fail to understand that and rather call him a pervert.
The fight is short and isnt much about the fight. But I feel like the fight heavily parallel the Usopp vs Luffy fight in Water 7. At the time, IMO that was first ever major crisis in the crew. Usopp didn't feel like belong and the argument with Luffy led to a fight. At the time, I would say its Luffy's first internal crisis with his crew. Whether you agree with Luffy or Usopp, Luffy chose to fight Usopp after Usopp challenged Luffy to a duel. Luffy told his action by fighting Usopp and led to prob the first time Luffy was ever in the slumps. Here, Luffy imo seems to grow as a captain and realize his action has meaning. With Usopp, he didn't went to understand Usopp and internal issues. He shrugged off Usopp concerns and fought him on it. With Sanji, he didnt try to make Sanji to understand through force. He understood how he react has consequences. Luffy told Usopp "if you want to leave, then why..." before Sanji kicked him to stop. You can imply what he was going to say. Usopp understood and that line even if cut prob push Usopp to make his choice. Here, Luffy said "Without you, I can't become King of the Pirates." As captains, he lowkey understands now he needs to understand his crew mental/emotional state. This really shows how much Luffy has grown as a captain.
Definitely some parallels to Usopp and some growth to how Luffy has been able to lead, although very subtle
When Ron mentioned he has big news, I thought he was going to mention WoW Forever lol
Damn, they got fucked over the way khan did on the sanji luffy title... do their mods even warn them about this type of stuff?
I mean that part was kinda hard to avoid tbh, it was just mid episode no warning or anything
808 & heartbreak. Ora hit us with the tears and the Kanye reference 💔
Luffy is always portrayed stupid in a lot of situations but when it comes to his crew members he’s always the most emotionally intelligent one
So true
You should get Sanji’s original, hand-drawn bounty pic on your back in place of Zoro. Just a giant goober-looking Sanji head…you’d be the only one in the world, and a legend for it.
and people missing out on this because it too long or they say the story is mid
Hopefully the One Piece remake will solve that first issue about it being too long. People that say the story is mid are just low IQ ngl.
25:35 Yea that’s Kenpachi’s va lol
without you i can't become king of the pirates..💔
Woooo
Don krieg VA is the same as Kenpachi, and you guys missed Wanda from Zou is Rukia's VA
YESS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THESE EPS
paused at 3:10 and i bet she will cry going all in
gimme my money
I’m pretty sure when these episodes came out it was like an hour special in Japan. That’s why all the mid cards. And I think Dragon ball went on break just for these episodes. It was a big deal in 2018. Also shoutout to the voice actors Luffy went insane.
I love that you both understand how it feels to be Sanji and Luffy. And understand the whole situation… ❤️
yeah this arc is underrated in my top 5, a lot of people get asked their favorite arcs in one piece and not many says this arc which is surprising to me bc i like it more then dressrosa me personally
This arc over dressrosa ANY day. I love this arc so much. It's so creative and different and dark and funny and so tense and musical (LOL). All that and more! Plus it has one of the BEST endings to an arc.....that finale ep is sooooooo good.
One of the most heartbreaking things about this episode is how everyone in the crew has, at some point, put their faith in Luffy. Robin did it, Nami did it, Chopper did it. They all reached a point where they trusted Luffy to save them when they couldn’t save themselves. But Sanji is different. Because of his past, he’s spent so much of his life being made to feel worthless that accepting love and protection isn’t that simple for him. Even when someone is willing to fight the world for him, he would rather push them away than let them suffer because of him. And that’s what makes this so heartbreaking. Luffy sees someone worth saving, but Sanji struggles to see that in himself. It’s such a real thing, too. Sometimes, the people who need love the most are the ones who’ve been hurt so badly that they struggle to believe they deserve it. 💔
Yeah, Whole Cake is Top 5 for me idgaf
Zeff did eat his own leg in the manga😭
Yeah apparently that was too violent for the anime or smth so they changed it
Holy W refresh right before eats too
OMGGGGG TRIPLEEE DROPPP!! So exciteddd thank youuu rice gingerrr
thank god it's triple ! thank you!
