I love Yuki and Machi tbh! It's kinda like...what he loved about Tohru was someone that cared for him like a mother, bc he never had a loving mother. But that wasn't romantic necessarily. Rather, for him romantic might mean being enough to make someone ELSE feel cared for. Being able to provide that comfort for someone else that he understands, and who understands him in a way most others wouldn't.

I got emotional when they showed Machi trying to put the blanket over her brother and her parents reaction that was cruel
