Gravity wouldn't stop working because there was no moon lol. But it would cause natural disasters over millions of years because Earth's tilt would become less stable. The moon causes tides as does the sun to a lesser effect. Some sea life would die off like crabs and other creatures affected by tides. Nights would be much darker. You where both right and wrong. Goku did hit Jackie but Jackie's kick hit with full force because his legs are longer.
