Yeah the first 3 episodes being in theaters didn’t really make it a movie. It was just a celebration of the show in a way for the beginning of the end. It’s all one arc from the first cour to the end of this one. And now everyone’s on the same page moving forward!

I dont know if you guys remember this. But in cour 2 when Ichigo went to Soul Palace with Squad 0. We see an interesting scene where Kyoraku Shunsui went to meet Ichigo’s human friend who never got stronger and gave them soul tickets to go to Soul Society to visit him. He said smth like Ichigo is training rn and he might become unable to visit Human World again. Im pretty sure he is referring to him becoming Soul King.

‘Why do you clad yourself in black?”Remember Ichigo’s Final Getsuga Tensho, he was in black too, same as Yhwach. Direct foreshadowing. Look back at the Fullbring arc, Ichigo’s first Shikakusho cloak is that same black. Makes sense too since Old Man Zangetsu, the black cloaked figure guiding him all series, is literally his Quincy power modeled after a young Yhwach. Similarly Tensa Zangetsu’s young self is a mirror to young Yhwach, and obviously Zangetsu is a normal Yhwach Remember Ichigo’s eyes turning red during Final Getsuga too? Same as Yhwach’s Almighty. Feels like it’s pointing at Ichigo being one of very few who could even be considered Soul King material. Also, when Old Man Zangetsu first told Ichigo his name back early in the series, it came out unintelligible, garbled. That’s because his real name was Yhwach, and Ichibei had already smeared/erased it with his own Zanpakuto so he took on “Zangetsu”

It's crazy how Yhwach hasn't even moved an inch from the same spot that whole fight..

The movie did end there, but it didnt show us the last poem. Next week is gonna be beyond lit.

Lots of anime-expanded content in this episode. The vizards going against Gerard wasn't in the manga, just a short skirmish with him going against Shinji and Momo, then the fight against Toshiro, Byakuya, and Kenpachi starts. They added in a lot of Orihime stuff in this episode for the Juha-Ichigo fight. In the manga, the Uryu-Haschwalth fight is much shorter. Uryu doesn't have quincy vollsterndich and Haschwalth doesn't have the Almighty-armor form in the manga. In a lot of ways, Gerard and his Miracle schrift are vastly upgraded versions of Yammy and his resurrecion, Ira. Yammy's abilities were too limited, so Kenpachi and Byakuya were way too much for him. Gerard is actually a threat, and not just to his 3 opponents, but to everyone. Anyway, get ready for some great action in the next episode, if the next episode continues the Gerard vs Toshiro, Byakuya, and Kenpachi fight. The anime has reorganized some of the events in the manga, so I hope we see a continuation of this fight. Might go back-and-forth between the 3 fights like it did in this episode, it might not.

Didnt the movie end on Ichigo's transformation?

I feel like Kenpachi Bankai has to be something can be strong enough to fight Gerald and maybe beat him. But can't be so strong that he win against Yhwach by himself or at all. Or else Ichigo fight vs Yhwach feels anticlimatic.

Pretty sure Hell arc is a long time away. The manga hasn't started according to what people told me. Unless its a short arc, then it could be atleast 3 years before they even started animating it considering the manga has to get decently far. Then animation/production is atleast year long.

[Thoughts] - The orihime scene is a perfect through line with what Aizen said about her powers. “It over steps the limitations set by God” - Much of the Orihime/Ichigo battle is a nod to the dynamics they had in the Arrancar Arc. Think back to the Grimmjow battle where Ichigo fought out of desperation while fearing his own power, as Orihime also feared that Ichigo was losing himself - Yet here when she reaches out, we see that Ichigo is mentally stable and unlike last time she is here to assist in full instead of doubting who he is. Then we obviously have the through line set up by his hollow transformation we saw against Ulquiorra, last time it was done out of fear and lack of autonomy, but here it was intentionally invoked [We learned from Kubo that this form is called “Half Hollow Ichigo” - The concept of the Soul King's power being that of Chaos which takes the form is black is very interesting. First, in that the space that divides the worlds (The Garganta) is all black, so I find it fascinating that the worlds are all surrounded by Chaos, or rather held together by it. (Also that adds clarity as to why Ichigo’s final Getsuga Tenshou form is all black) - Many may fail to understand what Ichigo/Uryu mean when they say or choose to “destroy the world”, but to cut a long story short basically it’s a matter of what life means. In life we have purpose, we cannot let fear of a circumstance deprive us of what we want. Giving in to a system that operates against your purpose is a fate worse than death, because what’s the point of living if you’re deprived of the things that make up your “purpose” (It’s deeper than this, but I don’t want to write a whole book on it in the comments, lol) - Gerard’s Hoffnung Sword is a blade that embodies people’s hope, and sense an attack on hope lends to despair, damage to the blade reflects onto an attacker. This is a sensible ability if Gerard is in fact the Heart of the soul kings, given the having “heart” is often symbolic of positive feelings. If you pay attention to the Ichibe scene, it appears he's some how fixing the blood oath seal which was linked to the lives of the Zero squads powers/lives

This was said before in the miyuri fight and episodes after when Gerald was mentioned Gerald was rumored to be the Heart of the soul king. Pernida was rumored to be the left hand of the soul king. Mimihagi(was inside ukitake) was the right hand of the soul king.

Yhwach did nothing wrong. He's as much a bad guy as Ichibe and the Shinigami who have significantly more blood on their hands.

That new Ichigo form was hype as fuck in the theaters, and the little comedy between Byakuya and Toshiro was so funny since everyone had to read the subtitle first then laugh lol

Gerard is the strongest yeah, there has always sort of been a debate with him and Lillie (and I suppose with the anime now, maybe Jugram).
