BLEACH TYBW EPISODES 20 & 21 REACTION 🔥

Fun fact: the Dressrosa chapter with Fujitora pulling down that meteor happened around the same time as this chapter in Bleach came out with Gremmy pulling down that meteor. Anyway, Kenpachi is an absolute beast! It didn't matter what Gremmy through at him, Kenpachi was gonna win this fight. He was beat up enough for Candace, Lilotto, Meninas, and Giselle to take him down, but, if it was anybody besides Kenpachi, they would've died against Gremmy. We now see how powerful Ichigo is with his full potential unleashed. Before this, he always had to use his bankai and/or his mask in order to keep up with other captains, now he just needs his fists and, sometimes, his dual-wield permanent shikai. He was handling business against those 4 ladies, who are in their quincy vollsterndich, quite easily without going to bankai. You really feel Ichigo's angst at Uryu's "betrayal." I love that I can just say stuff like this since y'all are caught up in the anime lol.

I think the imaginary guy/Gremmy underused his imagination for instance, he never imagined that Kenpatchi bones were made out of cookies he did that to the lieutenant if he did that to him, it would’ve gave him a huge advantage and then say give him no limbs. DRINK NOZARASHI!!

I love Gremmy so much because of how rich a character he is with just one episode's worth of content. I absolutely disagree with the general take that he's stupid for having a power like imagination, because people tend to think that everything is as simple as black and white without any nuance. Gremmy is just a brain, and his worldview is limited, considering how we saw that he could not focus on Kenny and Yachiru at the same time. This limited framework represents yet another aspect of fas*ism, just like the previous Sternritters. That plays into the child-like form that he takes as he's not self-actualised. His imagination grants him authorial powers, which is so meta, considering how mangakas use their imagination to bring a manga to life. What Kenpachi does is help Gremmy break that shackle by nurturing him in the same way Unohana did to him. After all, Gremmy is like pre-Unohana fight Kenpachi, but without the expanded worldview that Ichigo conceptualised for Kenny. I'm so glad you guys caught some aspects of it. So when Kenny said that if you're the strongest, then you would want to beat the strongest, he's talking to Kubo in a way because of the META element. That means Kubo's own creation is telling him to revel in the competition between mangakas and become the best by defeating the best. Another layer of Gremmy is how his defeat was kinda guaranteed the moment he gave life to another person. That is borderline blasphemy, and considering all the religious motifs being used in the arc, Gremmy's imagination crept into Yhwach's territory (who is like a form of Jesus), which essentially sealed his death, considering the punishment for blasphemy. Gremmy also represents the aspect of fas*ism where they simply can't imagine a world where their ideologies are not accepted as the norm, which is yet another flaw of fas*ism. The threat that Gremmy was is somewhat downplayed in the anime. When the meteor came down, the whole Seireitei froze in shock, and no one was battling as they were simply scared of the scale that Gremmy represents above them by conjuring the meteor. Michelle was right to think about what Yhwach thought about Gremmy. Gremmy was locked in a cage due to the threat he posed, even for the Quincies. We got this info in the same material that episode 20 adapted. Since Ron touched up on it, Kenny's zanpakuto - Nozarashi - looking like that had another meaning as well. Since Ichigo was the one who changed his view, it makes absolute sense for Kenny to conjure his sword similarly to OG Zangetsu, as it was during their fight when Kenny understood the need to fight together with their swords. If you notice, Kenny was still wearing his eyepatch, and on top of that, he also reduced his power level to match that of Gremmy. This is evident when his squad suddenly sense his spiritual pressure out of nowhere, even though he had been there for a while. And based on what we learned in OG Bleach, a person in a lower-dimensional plane can't sense a being in a higher-dimensional plane unless the latter brings them down to the former's level. Also, I understand why it may seem weird that Ichigo is being lenient to the Quincies, but it would make sense upon reflection. I love how Yhwach could have opened the gate when Renji, Rukia or even Byakuya came, as they were also wearing the Oken, but he really waited for Ichigo to come.

Some reasons why gremmy lost the way he did and didnt engage his immagination better: 1. the imagination was limited to the user. he is obviously inexperienced and note smart. (it was even confirmed in canon light novels that he had been lockep up his whole life and was only released during the war) 2. Kenny rage baited him into a physical fight . he wanted to crush him to prove he was the strongest3. in bleach its all about spiritual pressure. kenny spiritual pressure is much more massive than him so he cant affect him directly like yachiru, so he can only affect the aenviroment around him like creating weapons to kill him, creating space etc

Some things to talk and think about during this batch of episodes: - Unohana's name she got during her prime was "Yachiru", which means "8 thousand styles". This was briefly mentioned during cour 1. So, here when you see the flashback of Zaraki asking pink-haired baby for her name - she had none, which means he was the one who named her that. This moment has been shown before, even during early OG Bleach, but it's something easily forgotten because it's not entirely obvious. All the answers you have regarding Zaraki and Yachiru are already shown and explained, just in a very indirect Kubo way! - Zaraki won the fight against Gremmy without taking off his eyepatch. Although the fight was a good one match up-wise, the outcome was determined even before it properly began. When Zaraki comes in and meets Gremmy, Gremmy already says "You seem strong, you're just as I imagined", implying that he started to build up Zaraki as this monster from there. Kubo did something amazing here, balancing out a broken power by giving it to someone young and inexperienced like Gremmy. Also, at the beginning of the episode after, Yuha says "I can see the world clearly again today" while getting back his V Schrift powers from Gremmy. Man is getting stronger. - Ichigo came down crashing at higher speed than the others which left the 72-layer barrier wide open. We hear Mayuri say it takes 6000 seconds for the opening to close again, which is more than enough time for Yuha to act. It's not really a stretch to say that he probably planned for that to happen, if you consider that something like Gremmy's powers came from him in the first place.

To be honest, this is one fight I didn’t like very much—Zaraki’s fight. As strong as he is, and with everything we already know about him, a power said to be capable of turning imagination into reality was very poorly explored. Against Yachiru, he turned her bones into cookies and broke them easily, but against Zaraki he mostly just kept throwing rocks and debris at him. The only truly effective use was trying to throw him into space, but he never once imagined something that would alter Kenpachi’s body. He could have made his body as fragile as a balloon and popped it, turned his blood into acid and melted all his organs—an endless number of things. Out of all the fights so far, this is the only one that felt a bit forced to me. On the other hand, episode 21, with Ichigo’s arrival, was pure peak. I’m really happy with TYBW’s animation and soundtrack so far.

Honestly. Wouldn't mind a single episode drop if you two warranted it. Hopefully with the success of Bleach TYBW there will be more Bleach to come. Hopefully.

If you guys didn't already know, Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach, actually answers fan questions regarding the Bleach manga after it ended on his online website called "Klub Outside". The questions range from things as basic as some of the character's favorite foods/colors to full, in-depth explanations about certain things that took place in the manga as well as Zanpakuto abilities. Kubo has also answered the question of whether or not arrancars/vasto lorde can reproduce. Also, you guys should definitely react to Burn The Witch, which is actually a kind of spin off of Bleach created by Tite Kubo and it takes place in the Bleach universe but more specifically in "Soul Society West Branch". Apparently, the series was such a hit that the company that published the manga wanted Kubo to continue the series and Kubo, in response, has stated his desire to continue the series once his health clears up and he might also continue the Bleach manga as well but that bit is just speculation at this time.

One episode a week did NOT feel better than being able to watch 2-3 at a time. I understand the premise though, bleach is just a bit different. Having read the manga 10+ years ago there has been more than enough waiting. lol Bleach has a lot of connecting episodes that were at times together in the manga.

Yhwach only absorbs their power(in this situation) if they have part of his soul. All of the Sternritters drank his blood and got their letter due to getting a part of his soul. The anime cut the scene that explains that he gives part of his soul to people since he was an infant.

I’m only gonna speak on what has been shown. Idk if you guys remember when Shunsui introduced Unohana as the first Kenpachi, he called her “Yachiru Unohana” instead of “Retsu”. Back in soul society arc there was a flashback of Kenny naming the pink hair little girl “Yachiru” and told her it’s the name of the one he admires. Wasn’t sure if you guys were able to put that together since you didn’t remember Yachiru’s name. But there it is. In the future (after cour 4) please come back and watch this flashback during the meteor part when Kenny releases his shikai and it will all make sense.

The classic Brain vs Brawn fight. Gremmy is my favorite sternritter(outside of Uryu). The reason for some of the things you wondered, is because gremmy was locked away and never allowed to be around others. He was too strong and his shrift could essentially do anything. He never had to fight or anything so he never actually had any moment where he used his powers for “evil.” That’s part of why he created other things. Think of it like creating imaginary friends since you can’t actually be around others. Technically, Gremmy could kill everyone there if it was something he thought of, but that’s never actually been a thought for him, so it was never something that came up. Kenpachi awakened those thoughts in him. Edit: Also remember each zanpaktou has some sort of ability, Kenpachi’s is basically that he can cut through anything. Ironic considering his blade is so jagged and rough.

Fun reaction! Gremmy is such a great villain and concept. Ron is really bonding with his asauchi on Bleach lol. Gremmy said his body was too weak, but in the same realization he admitted he was only making an excuse. Kenpachi was so unyielding he made Gremmy completely misuse his imagination. It's an epic fight! Also, dope callback to Mahito in the snow, another peak moment. You might notice more and more things having echoes of jjk (its throughout bleach from start to finish) even Kenpachi and Todo have a lot of similarities in their relationship to the mc (for example they both teach the mc how the energy in their universe works in a different way). Also, the brain of gremmy reveal is kinda similar to another jjk moment, and there's many others just in this encounter with Gremmy. And this is no knock on JJK at all, jjk is my favorite. It's just cool to see how Bleach inspires so much

You guy's should know, TYBW might not be the end. There's the Can't Fear Your Own World light novel arc that they could one day adapt, the Burn The Witch tie in, and the Bleach Hell arc manga one-shot that Kubo will continue one day. All of which occurs after TYBW.

[Tidbits Ep.21] - Scenes from the manga are removed where Shinji explains the Importance of Kenpachi and why he must be saved, better expressing the reason why the Bambis waited to ambush Him after Gremmy. It's believed by them that Killing Kenpachi will turn the tides of the War. - We see that Yachiru has seemingly vanished from her Shihakusho, mixing that information with what we saw in episode 20 should bring up some questions. - The Bambi's or Female Quincy group Schrifts are as follows, Liltotto is "G the Glutton", Meninas is "P the Power", Giselle is "Z the Zombie", and Candice is "T the Thunderbolt" - Sklave Rai is play on the German word Sklaverei which obviously means Slavery. This is the reishi dominating technique we saw Quilge Opie use. - We've known at least 3 of the Special War Threats, Ichigo, Aizen, and Kenpachi. But known they also seem to have a number in terms of Importance because Liltotto says that Ichigo is the #1 Special War Threat. - Powersaling wise we must never forget that in Bleach (aside from special circumstances) You need to have spiritual pressure on par with your target otherwise you can't even damage them. Ichigo has leveled up and Uryu was capable of damaging him which says a lot about how capable Uryu must be. - (Sidenote) The Fandom was slightly divided with the last two episodes in terms of pacing, likely because both episodes adapt around 8 chapters of content per episodes whereas Bleach episodes tend to cover about 4 per episode which means content gets cut, sometimes for better or worse. (Though it must be mentioned that this also means they are gearing up for tons of new and original content within the later Cours) - (Sidenote 2) Also, reportedly this Episode had some production issues, so there were many cuts (scenes) that were planned that they didn't get to do which is unfortunate. He's Fighting Gremmy but also teaching him how to properly enjoy battle. - The anime cuts several reactions from both Shinigami and Quincy characters when Gremmy uses the Meteor. - Many fans claim that Gremmy is idiotic, however, he's more so sheltered, and this is why he began to feel ecstatic by fighting for the 1st time. The idea is that despite being able to imagine nearly anything he's likely experienced very little in life from actions to even feelings. - In regards to Gremmy's power of imagination many fans fail to understand that it has many drawbacks that could limit it strength. The 1st is that what one can imagine is based on experience and Gremmy has lived a very confined life because it's alluded to in the manga (and confirmed in light novels) that he's kept locked away. The 2nd is that a person's imagination can do its own thing, so if you have involuntary negative thoughts they will affect you like how Gremmy began to lose. 3rd is that it's limited to the speed of his thoughts. Lastly, it's not limitless as some claim, if he could just make anything a reality Yhwach would have told him to imagine that every soul reaper was dead, but clearly, that's not the case, (it's also matter of reiatsu, he'd need enough to make the ideas happen, but clearly you need a body strong enough to house certain levels of reiatsu.) - The scene with Kenpachi calling out his sword's name mixed with the Flashback of Yachiru not having a name is a huge in-your-face hint here which some people somehow miss. I like the title I am the Edge for Kenpachi's ep because I assume that it's referring to the fact that Kenpachi loves fighting on the edge from his battle with Unohana and after properly accepting her title he has now become that edge for others (Gremmy in this case) great way of showing a new layer of maturity and growth for Kenpachi while staying true to his character

Haha, Gremmy definitely has one of the strongest powers in all of Bleach imo, and had to get nerfed in several ways, such as being very childlike. Imagine someone like Urahara or Aizen using that power. But yes, the Quincy V was just a product of Gremmy's imagination.
