As others have mentioned, Miu Miu de-activated her ability after getting beat up by Jolyne, basicallky she gave up. When the guards showed up and she was Jolyne's hostage she re-activated her stand on the guards, hence why Jolyne said basically "I'm glad you understood your situation" to save Jolyne because she was held hostage

Like everybody else mentioned, it was Mew Mew that used her stand ability voluntarily on the guards so Jolyne doesn't kill her.

To explain the confusing nature of Part 6's stands, like Jailhouse Rock, it helps to understand where the author Araki was at in terms of his writing headspace; From Part 3 and on, the Jojo series (published under Shonen Weekly) began to take a very "monster of the week" approach to arc writing. A new weekly issue would drop, it'd introduce a new stand or two, and one two or even three issues of the manga would then be spent solving the mystery and beating the stand user (this writing style was very popular in the 90's) After 4 parts of this style of writing, Stone Ocean is where Araki started hitting a lot more narrative walls with his character creation. Sure Jojo's has always had plot holes here and there, but now in Part 6 they were becoming more evident than ever as the author continued trying to ramp up the complexity and uniqueness of the stands and their users to satisfy the "monster of the week" demand that Shonen Weekly was pressuring for. Mew Mew is simply an unfortunate example of that... still a very cool user and stand, don't get me wrong, but the moment you try and break down exactly how Jailhouse Rock works and more importantly how DEEP the complexity of its abilities can go it immediately begins to fall apart. So you're not alone in thinking this Good news though, Arakis frustration or at least his growing tired of the weekly format finally got him to move to Shonen Monthly for a new publishing venue. NO SPOILERS; from Part 7 and on the monthly release has allowed Araki to spend FAR more time with each arc, allowing not just more thoughtfulness into the new characters but also the ability to then flesh them out better than he's ever been able to under the old Shonen Weekly format. TLDR; you're not the only ones confused on Mew Mew, Araki has spoken on this subject, and Part 7 and on only get better in terms of writing

Amazing callout! She’s named after miu miu the brand by miuccia Prada which I found hilarious

What I like about this arc is that the villain thinks he's the hero of the story, that he has a destiny he must accomplish and that others are trying to stop him from it. He's guided by faith. Every adversity is a trial of his faith. Tanos type villain

legitimately my most hated jojos villain. he refuses to see himself as wrong in anyway

A man of few words, but always good ones

miu miu valued her own life more thant the mission. instead of dying with jolyne while she's being shot to death miu miu decided to let them go. deactivating her stand on them and activating it on the guards so the crew could escape.

i think what was trying to be implied was that she gave into Joylnes power and admitted defeat, and also would of got blasted by the guards if they were to shoot, so she used her stand to help her + them get out of that situation.

Q
Quantum Brush · April 23, 2026

Exactly! That's why Jolyne said "I'm glad we understand each other Mew mew" after getting out of this situation

jolyne's color scheme during the end of fight color change is soooooo good

The reason for why it didn't impact Jolyne and Emporio, but it impacted everyone else, is because Since Jolyne took her hostage, and since she was so close to Jolyne, it was either MewMew activate the ability on the guards, or she gets killed by Jolyne. That's why Jolyne said good job for understanding. So, she basically forced her to do so.

Yea I mean, If she didn't use her stand to forget, they would shoot her and she knew Jolyen would use her body as a defense. At this point, she had to use her stand to cover her body from getting shot by the guards.
