See, the problem with fullbringers are that they can't keep up with shinigami, physically. They're just as fast, but they just can't take as much damage as a shinigami can. Tsukishima lost because of overconfidence in his own abilities and his frail human (physical) attributes. Ikkaku had it the easiest since Shishigawara didn't get a portion of Ichigo's fullbring power that was stolen from him.

No they never told Ichigo anything. They just said he was substitute Soul Reaper. But TBF I feel like Soul Society, captains, even friends just never tell them anything. Its better for Ichigo to be oblivious to these things is prob what their rationale is

Ngl these episodes were kinda boring to me. We know soul reaper are winning handily. When they are not, you just thinking why is it taking so long for them to win like Byakuya and Rukia. But it does make sense why. IMO Fullbringer are not meant to be as strong as Soul Reaper, but have tricky abilties. The one who lost fastest are the one who used their abilities in brute force (Giriko and Dirty Boots girl). The one who last the longest were tricky fighters, Tsukishima and Riruka. That is why I think Chad is lowkey ass in compared to Ichigo. Chad can be strong as a Lt and close to a weak captain. But he never matching a top tier one. If he were to get a trickier ability, could have been way more dangerous Yukio (video game guy) was hard to catch but when he decided to flex his power in more brute force way, he lost immediately to Toshiro

Renji isnt a captain. But he does have bankai which is requirement for captain unless you built diff line Kenpachi. Byakuya fighting style is def passive, wait and see. Tsukishima is a tricky opp. Rukia is nowhere near strong enough to be a captain. Even Ikakku who i know has a bankai defeated his opp no Bankai. Meaning he was just using at best Lt level strength

Little late to the party but I'm new to your patreon and just caught up. This arc is slept on, but I think a lot of the hate isn't because it's a bad arc, but it is a bad arc to end the series on. Which it basically was for anime only fans. We didn't know if Bleach would be back as Kubo was dealing with health issues and he was forced to rush the end of the manga and definitely couldn't help with the anime. With TYBW coming after though, Fullbring is a great arc. I've always been a fan of storylines where the hero loses there power and you get to see what they are really made of. Also the scene where Ichigo falls into despair after Ginjo betrayal and Rukia's speech to Ichigo is a top 10 Bleach moment for me.

The Byakuya vs Tsukishima fight is one of the coolest in Bleach. It's short, but it's sweet, and on a technical and conceptual level very interesting. The manga panel when he blasts a hole through his chest is awesome. And his dialogue/reasoning after is peak

Need to put a little more respect on tsukishima lol his ability is nasty makes him captain level, give the soulbringers credit their still human imagine how long Chad and inoue would last against a captain…. Less than 30 seconds

Byakuya has one of the greatest character development in Bleach series

Man, when Byakuya says "Thank you" during his battles, I get chills every time, it's so royal how he pronounces "Reoiu" instead of the ordinary "thank you" in Japanese.

Second comment sorry, but I saw you guys asking about the Fullbringer backstories, I actually spoke about the topic in some of your previous patreon reactions, the anime mostly [with some exception] omits their backstories. I went in detail about Jackie's backstory when you guys initially asked because you wont get it from the anime, additionally a pre-warning of sorts, but we also dont get the full gist of even Ginjo's, the novels fills us in on what happened, ill make a comment about that once you've finished this arc.

[Clarification] - Tsukishima's "Book of The End" Fullbring allows him to insert himself with the targets past, be it a person or an inanimate object. Once cut he can place himself within their history or replace someone else with his presence. The most terrifying aspect of this power is that once he inserts his "presence" he actually exists within that history meaning he lived and learned of the targets entire life In short he can gain knowledge of the targets ENTIRE past and can even interact with that past (like setting traps in the past of the ground) (Just to be clear his ability is not Memory Manipulation, he legit makes a reality in which he exists with the persons past. This is a great showing of why or how dangerous a Fullribringer can be, which makes sense once we learn later in novels where there powers stem from)

I get where you’re coming from, Ron, but Rukia wasn’t really trying to kill Riruka — she was caught up in the cute stuff and holding back, so she naturally looks weaker compared to the captains who just didn’t care. And I also think Tsukishima’s ability gets underestimated a lot. The first time I watched it, I genuinely thought Byakuya was done for because his power is one of the wildest in the series. Anyway, not trying to correct u, just sharing my pov. Excited for next week! It's gonna be peak!

I think Ginjo was the first substitute soul reaper and Ichigo is the second, I might be wrong though.

Rukia is not a Captain yes, but so is Renji and Ikkaku Rukia is a Lt like Renji. Renji is a Lt and Ikkaku is a 3rd Seat but Ikkaku is basically at the same level as a Lt even though he is 3rd Seat, which is why he is the only one who can use Bankai at a lower rank but he tries to keep it secret. just to kinda give you a memory refresh 👍👍

Ron, I know you said you havent watched Dragon Ball but in terms of power scaling Bleach is always mentioned next to DBZ and way above One Piece and Naruto. Also, I have a question, will we continue to get Double Drops or triples when we get to TYBW? or will it be single drops like OG bleach? Edit - DUDE! Tsukishimas ability doesn't just change memories or swap places with someone else in their memories, it actually changes the past that person experienced. I thought you guys had finally caught on a few drops back. Every person he inserts his presence into he was actually there in their past. So for Byakuya he actually DID help him train and learn all his swords powers.

Yea the fullbring abilities shouldn’t be underestimated… it’s like hax .. and some hax in anime can trip up even the strongest characters

The way Byakuya had to fight tsukishima directly goes against how he has always fought, anyone who is forced to adapt on the fly with new moves going against all the training you have done for decades would challenge anyone. Tsukishima on his own is fast and strong as well, he shouldn’t be taken lightly. In Byakuyas mind during the fight as soon as he got cut he really did think that Tsukishima trained him and taught him every move he trained for decades, definitely not an opponent to be taken lightly.

I don't understand why you think that some of them are supposed to win these fights so easily when the story hasn't established that as the case.

The difference between Byakuyas fight and Rukia's, Rukia was not looking at her as a serious opponent seriously because she knew she is stronger and didn't want to kill her. With Byakuya, Tsukishima actually is a strong character compared to the others. His ability allowed him to know all of Byakuyas moves so it was more challenging for him to beat Tsukishima.

Just a FYI: I agree that the fights should not be dragged out, and they weren't, but you two are really sleeping on Tsukishima. Of all characters in the full bring, Tsukishima can be/is captain-level due to his incredibly broken ability.

Tsukishima doesn't just believe he trained with Byakuya, he actually did. That's why the distinction in his power is inserting himself into the past not inserting himself into memories. Tsukishima is genuinely a very dangerous opponent, he can make so that he has been with you every step of the way so he knows everything about you. Tbh Byakuya was fortunate that Tsukishima got cocky and arrogant at the end lol

Tsukishima is a really dangerous character in bleach unlike the other full bringers. It’s not a subjective thing when he inserts himself in the past. It actually happens. Due to his ability, he really did have the experience of training and teaching Byakuya all of his moves in the past. His ability is actually scary. Byakuya wasn’t just toying with him unlike the other fights we saw lol
