Ron barragan can’t just “touch his sword” because Aizen is Aizen and his sword is op literally no one is really touching Aizen without his permission😂

ava_aster_parmessur · January 6, 2026

the thing with Barragan capitulating to Aizen is his powers were a lot weaker pre arrancar

Barragan represents time, decay, and the belief that power and authority are permanent if you cling to them long enough. His fall is tragic because he built his entire identity around “stagnation” which is a core theme in Bleach, the idea he was already complete, already a god. Kubo uses the flashback to show how that worldview makes him vulnerable, not just because Aizen is stronger, but because Aizen understands how to exploit someone who refuses to evolve. His pride and sense of dignity are exactly why he couldn’t turn against him earlier. If he rebelled sooner, the core message that unyielding identity eventually collapses under pressure would be lost. Aizen positions himself as inevitability, reducing Barragan from a king of death to a subordinate. Hachi defeating Barragan is also intentional on a thematic level. Barragan embodies inevitability and entropy, while Hachigen represents adaptation, intelligence. He doesn’t overpower time but rather he reframes it. The fight becomes less about raw strength and more about whether inevitability can be challenged through understanding and flexibility. Kubo often pairs characters this way so battles resolves an idea and have opposing ideologies, not just power scaling. Which makes sense since Bleach frequently uses somber, melancholic, and even nihilistic beats where death isn’t a redemption or a moral reset, but a quiet end to a failed worldview. The backstory isn’t simply asking for Barragan's redemption, it’s asking us to understand what happens when pride, fear of change, and rigid authority collide with a world that keeps moving forward. Also yes this arc has the worst pacing in Bleach but next episodes from here on the pacing is better. Next arc is pretty good adaptation/ pacing wise and TYBW exceeds the manga it's PEAK perfection.

ngl i think this arc just suffer huge from bad pacing and weird comedic moments. IDK, Its Soul Reaper vs Arrancar. Some comedy just doesn't hit for me in the early part of Fake Karakura town. We in a war. It makes sense for Soul Society arc where we have stages where we need to get from point A to point B so comedy in the journey from A to B is fine. But Love/Music guy doesn't work for me. Omeada stuff doesn't work, Hiyori/Toshiro is fine. I get they are meant to set up the real stuff, but like yeah idk. Hype moment in this arc hype me still, but the bad stuff just doesn't in this arc

pacing is not bad imo other than the random filler drops but main story itself not bad. the comedic moments are not needed at all besides maybe omaeda(correct spelling idk). Glad TYBW is what it is tho.

Baka = idiot / stupid / fool Bakana = foolish (it’s just baka as an adjective) And it’s used as a short for “such a foolish thing can’t be real”, but they just keep it short saying “foolish”. Also I think it’s a bit of an “anime speech”, cuz I don’t hear it too often in real life, masaka is a bit more present IMO.

T
Taka · January 6, 2026

masaka is more of an "as if" where bakana is more an "ain’t no way"

Damn not the tape measure 😫

Barragan's backstory was done perfectly for his death. Just shows how there's some espada having more loyalty than others while Aizen just dgaf lol. Starrk's pack of wolves technique is one of the coolest in the series, that's what the title card represented showing the lone wolf
