Functional Aprons Mod🍰
Bring a little more realism to your Sim's kitchen with Functional Aprons! This mod lets your Sims put on cute aprons from the base game apron wall object, making cooking, baking, and storytelling feel more real.
Sims can choose from different apron styles for women, men, and children, then take them off whenever they’re done.

✨Kitchen Mess Add-On✨
Instead of everything staying clean, Sims can end up with visible mess effects like flour, oil splatter. These effects are great for storytelling, screenshots, family gameplay, bakeries, restaurants, workshops, messy kids, and everyday chaos.
Wearing an apron helps protect Sims from certain kitchen messes, while the manual mess options let you create scenes exactly how you want.
✨Flour ✨
Flour and oil messes are designed to make cooking and baking feel a little more realistic. Sims who bake or fry without an apron may end up with visible flour or oil stains, along with a small uncomfortable buff to show that they probably should have protected their clothes first.
Flour gives Sims a dusty, baked-in-the-kitchen look. It works best for bakers, parents baking with kids, bakery workers, and messy kitchen storytelling.
✨Oil / Grease✨
Oil splatter gives Sims a greasy, stained look that works for cooking, frying, restaurant scenes, and even mechanic or repair storytelling. It is useful when you want a Sim to look like they’ve been doing real hands-on work.
I made the grease/oil splatter while the sim is cooking to give it some realism. This works only for skillet recipes.
If you choose to have mess on your sim's clothing, there is no buff. I didn't want to add any for story telling purposes. Some sims like to be dirty, it's however your story goes.
✨Paint✨
The paint mess is made more for storytelling & pictures mainly. I always find myself wanting to go into CAS to add it for my stories but never really being bothered to do it because The Loading.. is annoying. Now just click the apron and add paint! Yippie!
The adults/teens and kids/ toddler are different. The adults/ teens is a full body paint while the kiddos get small face paint smudgies. Honestly so many little stories could go with this. It's endless.
✨Wash Off ADDON✨
What it does:
Adds mess cleanup through Wash Hands at sinks.
Allows Take Shower to remove apron messes.
Removes the visible flour/oil/paint overlays.
Removes the matching flour/oil uncomfortable moodlets.
Works with the Functional Aprons mess system.
Optional file, so you can keep or skip it depending on your gameplay style.
🎨This mod goes great with painting room scenarios! The functional wall painting is everything!
✨Notes ✨
Known Notes:
Flour/oil/paint visibility may vary depending on clothing color and texture.
Mess effects are visual overlays and may be easier to see on some outfits than others.
If you want your sim to be messy with their apron on, click the mess first then apply the apron.
The apron does not show for hooded clothing. The apron replaces hat category.

Now I tried many many times to figure out how to get the kids to do their own animation to wipe off the mess but alas, I've been beaten(I gave up). So when the kids dust themselves off, it might give Slenderman for two seconds. Hopefully that's alright😅(Don't look)

You're brilliant! I stopped playing for a while and now I'm back, I've been looking for mods to make my sims feel more alive and you've absolutely checked that box 100% for me! My sims are farmers. Hi, for some reason I don't know, when I place that apron in the game, no options appear for it, and it doesn't appear as a mod item either.

Just a heads up for anyone struggling to find the apron in building mode. If searching for TinyCoffeeCups or Apron shows nothing, look for an item named **DEBUG** (with the CC wrench icon). If you use Better Build Buy, make sure to turn OFF Organized debug, turn on Hide Maxis + Custom Content, and check directly under decorations -> wall decorations. It should pop up right away! PS: I love this mod

Thanks so much for the Wash Off Addon! One tiny request if you feel like doing this: Could the cooking skill reduce the probability of splatters? It kinda feels weird when my 7th level sim fries an egg and is splattered with oil after that :P

Is there a way to make putting in an apron when you start cooking automatic? I always forget to have my sim put it on but I love the idea of her wearing it. And I love the way the mess looks. I also like the idea of not having to find the apron pattern on like on her everytime.
It will be hard for the stove to know what apron pattern you would want. This could only work if there was only one apron for all and that's no fun really. Plus this is to make gameplay more realistic. I actually like the chore of having to tell my sim to wear it, not really realistic for it to just pop on you.

Hi, First of all, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your work. Your mods are amazing, and I’m really grateful for the time and effort you put into creating them. I’m currently trying to use your Functional Aprons and Functional Gloves mods, but unfortunately I can’t seem to get either the aprons or the gloves to appear in my game. I’ve carefully followed the installation instructions and checked that all the required files are installed, so I’m a bit confused about what might be wrong. Could you please help me figure out what I’m missing? Is there an additional step that I may have overlooked, or something specific I should check? Thank you very much for your time <3
First make sure you don't have any old packages of the mittens in your game. I changed the object tuning to work for my mod so you can't have the creators object. Search mittens in you BB and it should be there! If you use that tool feature to duplicate an apron from the base game aprons, you should see mine right beside it! If it still doesn't pop up there might be a conflict. Hopefully this helps!
Hi firstly OMG this mod is everything I really wanted 2 tell you, also how much I love this sooooo much, it adds such a cute and realistic touch 2 cooking. I was wondering if there are any plans for an optional autonomy add on in the future? something that would allow sims 2 automatically put on their apron and?or oven mitts when they start cooking or baking, and perhaps remove them afterwards. I think it would make the mod feel even more immersive and lifelike. Of course, I understand if it's not possible or not something you're intrested in adding, but I thought I'd suggest it because I absolutely adore the mod and would love to see an automatic option someday. Thank you for all your amazing work.
I originally wanted to do this but found it hard to autonomously spawn different pattern aprons. You'd be left with just one boring color which doesn't do much for gameplay and storytelling. I like the fact that my sim HAS to go walk to put on the apron and if they forget they suffer the consequences such as life.
My question is, even if the apron is deactivated, does it still work?

Good idea! I had the idea for fast paced sims or bakery employees to do a quick dust off and go about their business but i can for sure sure add that in the update! (I'm adding waist aprons next)
