Changes to the (public) Audio Feed?

Heyo!

For anyone who does NOT listen to any of the podcasts via the Patreon RSS feed, I'm trying to gather some feedback/audience preferences before making a change. I am considering uploading ALL of the podcasts (that are currently uploaded here and on YouTube) to the "Play, Watch, Listen" (game dev specific show with Mike and Austin) podcast feed, meaning that podcast platforms like Spotify and whatever the fuck Apple has now would ALSO get We're Voice Actors, MovieHaus, and any one-off interview episodes. Essentially, I would be turning the current Play, Watch, Listen podcast audio into Play, Watch, Listen+ just like the YouTube channel.

If you ARE someone who listens to the audio via those public channels, can you let me know how you feel about this?

Similarly, for those of you who are subbed here on Patreon, audio exclusives/RSS was intended to be a bonus/reward for your support - would it bother you if audio versions of the other shows also went out publicly?

I missed the poll, I find it personally a bit exhausting to have to archive stuff like this. It's not even that I'm not interested in it, but there's so much stuff I am trying to follow, that any additional separation/grouping really helps me. My preference (take as you will, the poll is pretty definitive) is having a separate feed with occasional cross-featured episodes to help drive visibility. Appreciate you asking!

Hi! Hope you're well, it's wet over here in Brisbane at the moment. Sharing my thoughts on the potential feeds changes. Business-wise it feels like a winning decision that will return on many metrics, personally this is one of those "converting excess trust into capital" moves that would ask me to consider the shape of my support. In a media landscape dominated by algorithms podcasts are the only place where I get to have full control over what media I am viewing. The Omnibus Feed is not the worst regression, but it is worse and one step closer to needing an algorithm to "fix" it.

I joined your Patreon to say please don't. Make a new feed if you want one for all the shows.

I've been meaning to listen to those but it's often easier to listen than watch on youtube so this would be great. Would this include past episodes as well or just going forward?

Weekly (almost) podcasts will take us back to when PWL started. Love hearing interesting conversations on wide range of tooics

I joined up here specifically so I could vote, and I voted to not combine, as I am only interested in PWL and do not consume your other podcasts even when on YouTube. (I use PocketCast for my podcasts btw). If you do decide to do it, please do clearly prefix your episodes clearly so I can just skip all the non-PWL ones.

I didn't know there was a Patreon rss feed. How do I get the url for that? Also, do it. I can just skip what I'm not interested in.

On the main page you click the Three Dots menu button and theres an "add to Podcast App" option.

I’d love to also have the backlog, I haven’t heard any of these before because I don’t listen to podcasts on YouTube.

I would love to have the other podcasts on Spotify as well. I mainly listen to PWL on Spotify because it's easiest during my commute, but that also means I don't listen to the other shows as much because they're not on there, and I would definitely tune in more if they were. I also don't mind having the exclusives posted publicly. If it's an issue for anyyone maybe the exclusives perk just becomes an "early access" perk instead? I totally understand where others are coming from with wanting just PWL on there though, and the annoyance of getting notifications on one channel for multiple shows. My thought there was that we already get notifications from you on Patreon about when episodes are coming out, so that may help people know to ignore a notification on the other platforms depending on which shows is being posted.

As someone who mostly just does YT now that im too broke for patreon (I'll go back one day i swear), I know my answer isnt helpful but whatever is easiest for you and that you feel is best for the channel. That said, what is the value of separating them? easier navigation and/or exclusivity?

I wrote a bit of a list but really it all just came down to "I get to choose what content I consent to receiving and get to control how I (non-commercially) use that content". A bit more abstractly, podcasts are the last bastion from algorithm-borg world the likes of Youtube have created. So any compromises to be more favourable particularly to a seemingly successful business is icky.

I appreciate that you’ve asked. I would prefer if you didn’t. I am not interested in the other shows.

I voted don't do it just because I look forward to every PWL episode, and get excited when I see the notification on my player, I just feel like it would dilute the excitement/sense of occasion, of seeing a new episode posted, wil absolutely l keep listening regardless.

I seem to be in the minority here but not sure why you don't just upload the other content on their own podcast feeds? I only listen to PWL and I'm not particularly keen on the inconvenience of skipping unrelated episodes when what seems like an obvious solution exists

Personally I find it pretty annoying when different podcasts are bundled in the same feed. My podcast app downloads new episodes automatically and I regularly have to go through the app deleting podcasts I would’ve never subscribed to in the first place. It’s not the end of the world but it adds busywork and I have unsubscribed from feeds in the past because of this. I would prefer if you gave people the options which of your podcasts they want to subscribe to.

This would be awesome to have the shows consolidated into a single feed. I often find myself bouncing around platforms to listen.

Hey there! Long time mostly audio listener, just wanted to leave my two cents after listening to your question. Personally it doesn't bother me a lot to have multiple different podcasts on one feed, though it could be a small annoyance for people who automatically have podcasts from specific feeds organized into playlists. But generally I think each podcast having their own feed is cleaner and would also potentially make them easier to find for new people. I follow a few podcasts that occasionally post short "trailers" to shows on other feeds, mostly if they're part of the same network, for some cross podcast marketing. This would be the preferred setup for me. But you do whatever works best for you. ✌️🐸

The Gay Frog · October 18, 2026

Oh btw. I don't know how it works exactly, but there is some sort of way you can tag the URL to your patreon in the rss feed which enables a "support this podcast" button in some apps that support it. Some podcasts I follow have it enabled and it makes it easier to get, for example, here.

This is something I've been wanting for quite a while. If you don't end up putting these other podcasts on the regular PWL feed, I would appreciate still having them in a podcast feed and not just a YouTube video version.

Richard Cross · October 18, 2026

Podcast apps are beginning to support hls feeds so that's good for both video and audio tho it can limit speed, I'm generally for this but please backdate it & please be consistent with title naming to distinguish what show is which or make sure they are under different rss seasons, making it easier for the community to adapt will help ( look at pocketcasts for a good baseline of how stuff can be formated / episode search goes off exact tital name, something dungons & daddies dose very well, so making it clear will help )

I follow plenty of podcasts where I'm not interested in the topic week to week so skipping is no big deal. Would love to have your other shows all in one feed!

Chris M. · October 18, 2026

I voted to do it. I specifically am not subscribed to the YouTube channel because I don't want podcasts cluttering my feed. I go to YouTube to watch videos not listen to podcasts even though I will check occasionally to see if there are any I am interested in listening to.

P
Pinfield · October 18, 2026

Does that mean you’ll also upload previously recorded episodes to Spotify as well? I’ve been meaning to catch up for ages!

T
Team · October 18, 2026

I vote for "Don't do it" mostly because I don't listen to the others. I don't really see the reason for combining them in the post, but if it's important for reach or reduces the load on you somehow I'm not against it.

Carsten Schultz · October 18, 2026

Thanks for thinking of the podcast crowd. I was actually wondering where that voice actors podcast might be when you mentioned it on PWL. Ideally I would have it in a separate feed but I also don't have a problem with skipping stuff that I'm not interested in, it's better than missing out on things. I understand that true podcasts (i.e. neither YouTube nor Spotify or whatever) are hard to monetise or even to get stats from, but as a listener I prefer them, I am that old(-school).

Liam Dodd · October 18, 2026

Voted for it, I don't use anything but Podcast Addict for podcasts so won't see anything else on other platforms. If they are labeled well then I can filter them out if I don't want them anymore, but based on the descriptions they seem like something I would enjoy

R
Robin · October 18, 2026

okay I recognize I’m in the minority here but I feel like pwl is so different from other podcasts, I love the option of having them on Spotify but I feel like keeping PWL as it is, and having other shows for the others, is the most clean way. Though I can recognize it’s easiest to spread awareness of the other shows through the PWL channel

R
Robin · October 18, 2026

Also I get notifications when a new episode is posted and I’ll be honest I might be gutted to get a notification for it to be another show </3 not to say I don’t love your other shows but, I feel the parasocial relationship with the three of you is too strong Alanah

Z
Zuezazon · October 18, 2026

Do it! And also: Some audio platforms like Spotify allow for video as well as audio, it would be huge to have the video versions of episodes avaliable too!

A

Yeah can do!!
