Now for those who want a little more explanation of what happened this development cycle.
I've made a previous statement about some IRL issues recently that caused the release to be delayed. I apologize once again for that, but I hope the wait was worth it.
This episode was massive. Like WAY bigger than I ever wanted. What's crazy is I didn't have enough time to fit in everything I wanted and had to make some cuts and compromises. With the entire game sitting at 130k words, that means I've officially written a 400-page story of dialogue.
There were a few things from the first half of Ep3 that needed some fixes. Primarily a small addition to the MC's flashback scenes while walking with Emily, and reworked dorm scenes with Allison and Taylor. If you remember when I released it back in October I had issues with some animations and had to improvise. Now these scenes are much closer to what I intended.
Normally I try to use renders for as many lines of text as possible (3 or 4 lines if the dialogue allows it). But I started noticing there were more instances that needed additional images to convey the scene. This episode more frequently uses an image for only 1 line, or sometimes with no dialogue associated with it. This was the main reason for the increased render count than the previous episodes.
So what didn't make it into this release? The image gallery. I spent more time working on improving visuals for this chapter, and did not devote time towards other upgrades. I also haven't settled on the right "look" I want for the gallery yet, either. But I'll talk more on that with my next Progress Report.
There was also an annoying bug in the last release where a random character speech icon would flash between transitions. A Ren'py update finally addressed this, but it apparently changed some core files which meant I couldn't do my easy update patches. So this time around you'll have to download the full game, and hopefully in the future I can provide smaller patches.

I had real fury at Emily's BG. Like, IRL fury. Man, you made that so real.
Thank you; it was difficult to create, but I'm happy to emotion transferred through.
Just finished Episode 3. I just want to offer my appreciation and praise of this AVN. As far as I'm concerned, Trouble at Home is shaping up to be the best AVN that I have ever played. In fact, I may as well go ahead and consider it my favorite, because the other couple of AVNs that provide some competition are not finished products either. The writing, particularly the dialogue, within TaH is easily the most naturalistic and well written that I have seen in this genre. It's extremely rare for me to laugh when playing video games or VNs in general, and yet this title had me rolling on many occasions (Mark, Bree and Stacy are all riots). The overall character writing is fantastic, with a great mix of intriguing, charming, and tragic characters within the narrative, with some hitting all those elements at once (E.g. Emily). I have to applaud the characterization of the MC as well. It's far too often that MCs are raging assholes and/or pervs in these type of experiences, but "Jay" is such a refreshing change in the opposite direction. Dude is young and not without flaws, but at his core he's a kind and thoughtful protagonist. This results in the rare occasion where I'm truly invested in the outcomes of the relationships that the MC is fostering, be it platonic or romantic. The renders and modeling are also praiseworthy. I appreciate the natural qualities that many of the characters exhibit. The female characters have varying body types, with very little in the way of exaggerated "assets", and the relatively modest clothing choices are on point. They're dressed as if they're real people. Again, I can't stress how refreshing this is. I'm of the opinion that this actually helps the more lewd moments to hit home. And speaking of the lewd moments, I think TaH has thus far provided just the right amount of it throughout the narrative. I don't know, I could gush for a while but I'll refrain from doing so. Basically, the game is awesome, and it's sorta everything that I want out of a visual novel. I'm looking forward to more. I want to spend more time with the fun and colorful characters that you have created. I believe you have something special here.
This is such a heartwarming review, as you praise so much about TaH that's important to me! Learning about the details that you all enjoy & appreciate is one of my favorite things, because it really pushes home that I'm creating something people like. Thank you for sharing all your thoughts!
Have had a theory about who Emily is since MC told her about the fight at his old school. This episode debunked it seems....for now.
This has been my first run at this story, but I found it great. Just done with episode 3 and I'm longing for more already I found it a bit goofy at first, but the story in itself grew on me bigtime. The emotinal parts brings a tear to my eye, and there is many moments in the game that warms my heart. Great job dev, I love your game (but the Emily flashback and Milo part was harsh)
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! So far TaH doesn't just show how our characters develop, but also my growth as a storyteller and artist. And yes, Emily & Milo have tugged on more than a few heart strings ❤️
….Milo 🥺
Why'd you have to hit us with the Emily 😢
10/10 chapter and stellar writing throughout, but damn, Emily better be getting some love in the next episode. That section was hard to get through.
Yes, she deserves some love. "This isn't pity I'm giving you."
Thank you so much for all the blood, sweat, and tears you put into this. I can hardly wait to experience it.
Thank you always for the kind words. I know you'll be experiencing the entirely for Ep3 for the first time, so there will be a lot to unpack. Enjoy!
Thank you for the release! Can't wait to play this in a few days when I'll have a bit more time on my hands. Hopefully your health issues are gone. Take care!
Thank you! After yesterday it looks like my dental issues may be resolving. Now I just need to lose this migraine lol. Hope you enjoy the update :D
Another amazing Chapter but damn.......it probably needed a trigger warning for some of the darker themes in this one.
That is a fair suggestion, and something a friend mentioned to me a while back and it slipped my mind. I'll add a warning note above :)
