An Important Update On Our Patreon!

Hey everyone!
Today, we're kicking off our plan to resolve a lot of problems that have accrued over the last while. It has been far from ideal, and is entirely on me. Here's what we're doing, and why.

The Move To Bellular.Games

Back in November 2023, we began self-hosting a newsletter site on Ghost.
In order to make sure you had access to it and provide you with Content, we used Ghost's official integration with Patreon to create accounts with your name and email.
Since launching, we've iterated on Ghost a lot and implemented some QoL features and designs. We had provided comped access for everyone on Patreon since the launch, this means you have full access to everything our site offers (Articles, Ad-Free Videos and more). We did not charge anyone for this move.

Now with the site established, it's time to close this Patreon.

Here's how it'll work.

Today - you can begin to transition your billing over from Patreon. You should all have comped status already with your Patreon Email and we'll be keeping it that way for an extra two months.
So just head over to Bellular.games and you can login with your Patreon Email.

July 8th - all billing on this page ends and we will be closing all Patreon subs permanently.

August 5th - Comped access to bellular.games via this page ends and if you haven't transitioned billing, we will set your account to the Free Tier. With this Free Tier you won't be able to read most of our articles, so make sure you swap over to one of our subscription tiers by 5pm August 5th.

Outstanding Loot

The situation with loot is easily my single largest failure.
Ultimately, I should have pulled the plug sooner, as in hindsight the writing was on the wall.
Here's how things went down. 2023 ended up being a challenging year. Between some burnout, plans falling through, and a lot of unanticipated issues with fulfilment, we ended up falling far behind. At the same time, more leadership work fell to me. It just wasn't a sustainable situation, and I didn't have the wisdom to break myself out of it.
As we neared the end of 2023, I was cracking under the foolishly self-imposed pressure. Since then, a lot of things have changed. We'll have a game studio update soon, but to cut a long story short, I've been able to hand off to our new Game Director, James, who led audio for The Pale Beyond. I've also brought Adam on to our team. He has been instrumental in getting things back on track. Here's our plan with loot.

• To handle outstanding and missing loot, Adam has created a Google form, linked here.

• We will be checking this form each week and ship batches of loot out very Monday. The earlier you fill out the form, the sooner we'll get loot to you.
  After the 5th August we won't be doing this anymore.

• Everyone on our loot tier during 2024 has had access to members content on bellular.games, and our current plan is to give between 3 & 15 additional months at a lower charge to the premium tier, depending on how many months you were on the loot tier during 2024.
  In order to provide this we will be sending out discount codes via your email addresses.

Loot will return, but only when we can guarantee a first class experience that we can deliver sustainably.

Moving Forward

I'll be frank: 2023 sucked. I bit off more than I could chew. Given my position, that's not just a personal mistake, it's also deeply irresponsible to you and our team. While we've still got improvements to make, 2024 has been very positive so far. Adam has bellular.games running smoothly. James is doing an outstanding job leading the games team. Personally, I feel like I have room to breathe, and that the lessons of 2023 have sunk in.

I’m sorry for letting you down on this. We’re going to mend the damage as fast as is sustainable. I let our foundations rot. Thanks to the help of those around me, we’re going to fix them.
