Progress Report: February II
Hi guys~!
All day, I could only think about having to copyedit, refine, and stress about this.
Almost 18k words (20k if im adding the surprise but I dont think it counts cause im a masochist), in the span of two weeks. It was a lot of tweaking, rewording, improving, deleting, self-doubt, and headaches; but we're almost there!
Now, i've woken up after a long needed rest after the Superbowl (Hey Drake :D), eaten mah breakfast, and dranken mah coffee with another pot brewing. THE WRITING CONTINUES!
My goal is to release in eight hours. After all, I think writing after eight hours only produces slop anyways. By then ill release what is ready (without a doubt North and South), and release the rest three days after that.
Some key things first:
The Surprise I was Talking About: There's a change in the beginning of the demo. Back then, the Caravan Attack happened in the first 20k words. Which is fucking wild. It was also without a doubt the hook that got people into the game in the first place, as it will undoubtedly do again when I incorporate the new characters (sacrifices) into the unforgettable scene. Please give me thoughts on it when the update releases later today; does it work as a good introduction? Is it too long? (I tried keeping it around 2k words with 500 words a page) The main focus and aim was to hook the reader, does it?
I had to drastically cut the scene where the family meets up again while you meet Master Feren. It really wasn't working for pacing to have Adelina show up in both scenes. So instead it got gutted so that the scene moves on to the more interesting bits quicker, and I think it works much better now than what i had before.
Again, the ugly head of branching and interactivity rears up to mess things up. It's a good problem to have, but not so good when you want to deliver consistent 10k word updates. Because of said branching, I reached 18k words, but still couldn't release when I reached 10k earlier because of said branching. Hence the wait and sporadic release schedule this month. This problem will be "solved" once we enter the three childhood upbringing routes as they'll be pretty linear singularly as the real branching will be choosing between prince/princess and squire. This problem will 100% fuck me with no lube again when the Caravan Attack mega scene happens with the three different casts of characters and possibilities converge.
I think that's all I can share for now without spoiling too much for everyone.
For my Patreons; update in eight hours.
For my Freefolk; the Public Update is already going to be over 100k (we've crossed it!), and will still be releasing within this month.
That is all, please send me well-wishes of NO FUCKING DISTRACTIONS lol!

The moment I started reading Kingdoms and Empires, I dived straight into exploring the world where my Prince would have to live—only after that did I actually get to the story itself. The world was what grabbed me first, and the caravan? That was one hell of a cherry on top! Thanks for your work—don’t burn yourself out!
Reading this really brought a smile to my face; thank you!!!
I'm extending it by an hour!
Excited for the carven attack cause it's where we get to meet the greatest trio, our day ones. Ronnel Lukas and Triel
I am well hyped for the Caravan Attack. 😈 It really has been great building up who our MC is as a person prior to the Big Damn Trauma™! It's actually had me create a totally different MC to who I had in the previous demo, given we could only define who the MC was as a person after the Big Damn Trauma™, and only by two inflexible character traits. And I am excited to see how the Big Damn Trauma™ affects the princess I've already established so far! 😋🤌🏽
Best writer ❤️❤️❤️❤️☠️
