Megafauna of Nareth III: Moresainean Elk and Great Narethian Bear
Moresainean Elk
The Moresainean Elk is known as the "Lords of the Forest" in Moresaine.
These creatures are massive, standing at 7 feet (2.1 meters) at the shoulder, with antlers that span up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) in width (if left uncut by their riders). They can weigh as much as 700 kilograms (1,543 pounds).
These elk have been domesticated since ancient times, and are often seen as symbols of power, featuring prominently on many Moresainean noble crests, including the royal crest of Moresaine.
The Blessed nobility use them as cavalry mounts, trained from a young age to be calm and battle-ready. Imprinting is incredibly significant, since it can only happen to one who has Blessed blood running through their veins, and even then, they imprint on a single rider for their entire life. Their long lifespans of 50 years make them lifelong companions for many noble riders.
Many Narethians have compared the love the Moresainean nobles have for their mounts, to that of the Argentian people and their warhounds. To harm one is like harming the rider, and the consequences are the same.
These mounts are incredibly intelligent, forming a deep bond with it's rider, often protecting them even in the most dangerous of situations. The Moresaine people believe that the Elk possess a "Blessed Bloodline," much like the nobility that ride them.

Antler span: Up to 14 feet (4.3 meters)

Northern Coast Bear (Great Narethian Bear)
The Northern Coast Bear, also known as the Great Narethian Bear, is an apex predator native to the northern regions of Argent, and the Snowpeaks.
Hunted to near extinction by the Belthean Empire, these colossal bears now primarily reside in the cold, harsh environments of northern Argent. These fuckers possess an exceptionally muscular build, with visible rippling muscles across its powerful forelimbs. Their diet consist of beached dead Stellatee , or the dead carcasses of other animals killed by faster predators, fruits/vegetables, and fish.
To support their hunting, they have astonishingly powerful noses to detect rotting flesh. Once found, they usually fight the predator (usually wolves) to eat the spoils. They usually win.
On all fours, these bears stand at 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall, and when fully standing, they reach a towering 12 feet (3.7 meters). Their surprisingly fast speed burts of 45 miles per hour (72 km/h) allows them to catch moose if lucky. Otherwise, they are well suited for long distance travel to find the carcasses of dead animals.
Many northern noble houses claim these animals as their family animal, and many feature predominantly as crests.
The only animal that can take out a Great Narethian Bear is the Crash-out Giant Sloth.
Height: 6 feet (1.8 meters) on all fours, 12 feet (3.7 meters) standing
Weight: Over 1,000 kilograms (2,204 pounds)
Speed: Up to 45 miles per hour (72 km/h)
Author's Note: Oh yeah, we're seeing these guys in the game alot more sooner than the other megafauna lmao.
Inspiration: Arctodus (short face bear), and Cocaine Bear.

How the hell did the Empire drive 12 FOOT BEAR THAT CAN GO 45 MILES AN HOUR, to near extinction?
Arrows, exhaustion, and the driving away of other predators and prey. Not as hard to imagine tbh, and their range is mostly the coasts and forests so it makes sense to how such an apex predator could get thrown off if the balance is broken
