Megafauna of Nareth I: Stellatee and Lymarkian Moane

Ima release the posts I've had in the wings regarding the megafauna I created. Every single one of these serve the narrative to either be a challenge to overcome, create opportunities for me as the author to throw a surprise in the story, or simply expand the worldbuilding of the world since some of these animals will mean a lot for different characters. Especially since some of them are Blessed like our puppy, and will be a companion for specific ROs as a mount or etc.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Stellatee

The Stellatee is a massive sea cow-like creature that ranges through the coasts of northern Nareth.

These gentle giants migrate annually to Arava’s beaches to breed and rest. This annual migration is celebrated by the Kin of Arava as sacred, to the point that the High Kinlord is expected to defend them until they leave. They are revered for their connection to Arava, the mythical ancestor of the Kin, as the Great Stellatee saved his life when he drowned.

Stellatees are known for their high intelligence, and are capable of remembering faces and voices. They are entirely harmless to humans, in fact, they are known to even help sailors Stellatees by guiding them through the treacherous, rocky northern coastlines of Nareth.

Due to their significance, illegal hunting by parties from the Belthean Empire has been a constant source of tension between the two peoples. But imperials continue to raid across the Snowpeaks for the Stellatee is an incredible source of blubber, meat, and hides.

Length: 30 feet (9 meters)

Weight: 8 to 10 tons (16,000 to 20,000 pounds or approximately 7,257 to 9,072 kilograms)

Author's Note: These animals will feature heavily if you do Zera's quests, and his romance.

Lymarkian Moane

The Lymarkian Moane is the last terror bird on Nareth, and are quickly exploding in population to the point they have invaded the Belthean Empire. Lymarkians have begun to call the Moane, "Lymark's Revenge".

This towering bird is an omnivorous predator, it feeds on small mammals, vegetation, and occasionally hunts larger prey, like camels. They recently found out the joys of eating human harvests however.

Lymarkian Moane are known for their incredible speed, reaching up to 43 miles per hour (69 km/h), which they use to chase down and gore camels. They also bash desert foxes and other mammals against rocks with their beaks. Their claws are particularly dangerous to large animals. Capable of tearing through flesh with ease, it is recommended by Lymarkians to stand your ground if charged.

Despite their fearsome nature, their meat is considered a delicacy, often said to "taste like chicken."

Their crossing St. Hytera's River is due to the carelessness of imperial soldiers transporting a number of Moane as delicacies, prizes, and curiosities.

Now, massive hordes of Moane trample through imperial fields, and have become such vermin that the Belthean Empire has practically declared war on the Moane.

They are losing.

Height: 12 feet (4 meters)

Weight: 230 kilograms (507 pounds)

Speed: Up to 43 miles per hour (69 km/h) ((nice))

Author's Note: These animals may honestly become a fan favorite as the meme potential and sheer disbelief of the imperials will be comedy gold. like, seriously... how the fuck do you hunt them down when horses can't run well in rough terrain or fields of wheat and other foods? How do you take them by surprise when they have lookouts and simply scatter once arrows hit one of them? Otto is going to literally be close to breaking down as these fuckers keep damaging harvests. it'll get to the point where the empire will have to regularly count a percentage of the harvest as lost before they even plant the seeds lmaooooooo

Inspiration: New Zealand Moa, Ostrich, and Emu.

Memes because I seriously can't wait for the MC to have to hear about this in the academy

Regarding the moane situation, I remember I read a similar ‘war’ the United States had with the local squirrels 😂. I kid you not. It all started because the settlers ruined their ecosystem by deforestation in the 1500s, they lost by the way 💅🏻. And that silly fight came back during WW2 😂.
