Megafauna of Nareth II: Andearippo and Rhintaur.

The Andearippo

Possessing a large head shaped like a canine, cloven hooves like that of a pig, and an extraordinarily powerful jaw that can crush bone, the Andearippo is commonly found in Trevalyn, Swainea, and Ulthred.

They are also suspected to be the cousins or relatives of the Southern Hell Pigs, found south of the Wastes of Korinth.

The Andearippo "swim" in the tributaries of the Mother's River, making the southern rivers of the empire their territory. They are highly social creatures, and live in "clans".

Perhaps what has made them so famous, or infamous, is their signature "laugh" when surrounding invaders once they fall into the water.

Height: 5 feet (1.5 meters) at the shoulder

Length: 12 feet (3.7 meters)

Weight: 3-3.5 short tons (6,000 to 7,000 pounds or approximately 2,721.56 to 3,175.15 kilos)

Author's Note: If you listen to the youtube video, that is pretty much how they sound like when they hear someone fall into the water as the encircle them. You're fucked if you fall into the river. These fuckers will feature when we go to the academy.

The Rhintaur
Found only in the Ulthred Region, the Rhintaur is currently being hunted into extinction for their hunting of horse herds. Very similar in build to the horses ridden by humanity, these distant cousins have several distinct features that make confusing the two species nigh-impossible.

They have a single venomous horn that protrudes from their head, have sharp teeth made for tearing flesh, and are larger than any horse. Perhaps the most eye grabbing feature of the Rhintaur that makes it distinct from their equine cousins is their long and flexible serpentine necks.

These carnivorous equines hunt by running alongside horses to then ram their heads into the sides of their prey. The Rhintaur hunt in packs, and possess an intelligence that allows them to guide a horse herd to run in one direction while stronger and more faster Rhintaurs lay in wait to ambush and ram their horns into the horse's sides.

Height: 8 to 10 feet (2.4 to 3.0 meters) at the shoulder.

Length: Longest neck length recorded is up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) when the neck is fully extended.

Weight: Depending on sex, 1,200 to 3,000 pounds (approximately 545 to 1,360 kilograms).

Speed: 30 to 35 miles per hour (48 to 56 km/h) in short bursts.

Author's Note: I wanted a unicorn that wasn't a unicorn and wanted to make a nightmarish creature that felt alien. Plus I like the Nuckalavee, and snakes sorta creep me the fuck out so having a horse with a horn, and a long ass neck that moves unnaturally sorta checked all the boxes for me lmao. These will feature if you spend alot of time with Astrid.
