Parasite

You know these mfers are rich because even rich families don’t live in actual houses… 99% of the Korean population lives in apartments so you gotta be like top level CEO of a major corp to be in an actual house anywhere near Seoul

The director said the point of the final shot in the basement, is to show that the dream of becoming rich enough to buy the house is a fantasy. The end credits song is "564 years" which is how long it would take on the average salary of a Korean Worker to make the money to afford it.

Hey just letting you know you miss some small things with only one airpod in this movie and others. like in the beginning you hear the family's voices coming from different directions which is a cool detail.

The parallels between the constant "lower class" and "higher class" was insane. The family UNDER the table, the entire concept of the underground bunker, the concept of "conning their way to the top" (like a lot of successful people in the world) just to end up back where they started because someone revealed their secrets, etc. The use of RAIN was also very intended in the film. Rain basically washes everything away, cleansing in a sense. The "blessing" that was the rain (to the rich family) was the curse of the poor family, the thing that cleansed the house of the parasites. This movie's use of symbolism as a whole is unlimited, its INSANE.

Fantastic movie

As a Korean, I really appreciate you enjoying this movie! The actor who played the main character’s son’s friend is actually the same actor who played Prince Yan in The Marvels — he was the leader of the planet where everyone communicates through singing. If you liked this Korean movie, I highly recommend Oldboy. Just a heads-up though: once you watch Oldboy, it might set your standards for movies way too high and make other movies feel boring afterward 😂 (Just kidding!)

Ya'll should check out the anime "Parasite the Maxim" after this. Its a totally different genre and type of plot, but since we are watching 'Parasite', I would add that anime to ya'lls shows and there's a live action film that comes after the show

Yesssss this one is Oscar worthy for a reason!!!!

The director won the Oscar for this movie and his winning speech summed up your comments at the end: “Once you overcome the one-inch-tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films.”
