Katara and Zuko aren't a thing, I don't know how anyone read that moment as romantic. They had a moment to bond and commiserate ya know like all the characters in the show do. Also I personally never liked how Azula took over it never made any sense when really scrutinized. Cool one liner I guess... eh I still don't like it.
Any one who ships zuko katara is short minded and doesn’t see the long game. It was never meant to be and never will be.
Azula has PLOT indeed
Azula dont want none, Take that king hostage quick. She dont want to fight Toph huh
Absolute peak episode
Season 3 has so many bangers. I can’t wait for boiling rock
What still breaks me about this episode is that when aang was going into the avatar state, you can see how happy and hopeful katara was but when aang was shot down you can see her whole world come crashing down.
Zuko's trauma is so deeply ingrained in him that he will just flat put avoid basic logic if there is any promise of fixing it. It's really sad. He was abused and he blames himself. The fact that Azula literally tried to take him as a prisoner just a couple months earlier and he still went is wild.
Avatar anng movie next
You said "did she capture the avatar, no" but actually she killed the Avatar, he was dead if not for the water from the spirit oasis essentially getting him back to life. Edit: I kept watching yalls disussion further and yall noticed yourself he wouldve died. nice
That scene was fkn peak. Now if Toph was there it’s a whole different playing field.
book 3 is peak! loved this season definitely, it got more serious
When you guys gonna react to the demon slayer movie?
Off topic but when are yall gonna get back on daredevil born again 😭
Looking back as a grown up, zuko x katara really does make sense narratively. Loved the episode and the reaction. Thank you!
Toph inventing metal bending is still peak
Zuko betrayed CEO Iroh because he found out there was no benefit package or paid vacation when he started working for The Jasmine Dragon Tea Company 🤣
Yes the creators confirmed as Nathan said if Katara did not have the healing water there was a chance Aang could have died in the avatar state, ending the cycle. Reinforced by the visual of cosmic Aang in the one scene. Glad you enjoyed this episode!
Remember . If u die in the avatar state the cycle is broken and the avatar will cease to exist forever
One of my favorite season finales of a series. So good. Overall I do really like Book 2 more than Book 1. As you said, B1 was more 'adventure', and I think I agree in the sense that it was more them traveling across to random places while they make their way to the other side of the world. It felt more like a world trip, which is fun. But Book 2 mostly focuses on and takes place in the Earth Kingdom, which is fitting for its title, and I do love seeing mostly each nation (their locations and lore, etc) in their respective books, Book 2 went with that and I really liked that. (B1 was about learning waterbending, but they only visit the Southern and Northern Water Tribes at the beginning and end of the book.). (Final note: I will say though, having Book 1 be more of a 'world trip' was not a weak point by any means. I think it was necessary for us to see multiple parts of the world to get a good enough sense of it early on to at least some level. and tbh there's not a whole lot to be done with having B1 take place mostly in the water tribes, as they are very small.) Anyway, that's my opinion pretty much lol. Now, on to Book 3!!! 🔥
Azula might be the coldest kid character ever, absolutely ruthless
Beyond excited for season 3, you need to watch Korra after this you would love it
Azula was a 🐐 villain before this episode for me but once she shocked him I was like she for sure is now. During the lightning scene I felt like finally a villain that doesn't let the hero power up 😤
omg guys yall HAVE to lock in next book is goated... also get through the legend of korra just in time for seven havens
Insane finale absolute peak
Just so you know aang had to master 37 top tier air bending techniques to obtain those arrow tattoos on his body. Technically he mastered 36 but he invented the air scooter the one with the ball of air underneath him and that technique was advanced enough to earn him his arrows….
I believe this season and more so the next they used a lot of animation studios from japan to animate the episodes. The anime influence goes into overdrive next season.
As a kid I never even noticed that this finale was the empire strikes back. Literally almost beat for beat.
The move at 16 min was so tough
a cool forshadowing of Zukos decision that I never noticed til this reaction is when hes going through that fever dream. He turns into the avatar(like we all know) but then he wakes up and touches his scar. The implication is that metamorphosis with him choosing that his destiny is to chase the avatar and the reason he thinks that is cuz of the trauma from his scar. It was perfect visual storytelling.
Min 14 is a callback from the Dream Zuko had with the two dragons.
Might as well start Book 3 tmr👀
I know this might be premature but I do hope you guys continue the avatar reactions with Korra! It isn’t as highly regarded as ATLA but I do think yall would enjoy seeing the evolution of the world building and the bending fights are great 👌
The more episodes of this I see their reactions to the more I think they would love it and that it would be so fun for us!
God this is such a well written episode/finale aang being killed (?) And the earth kingdom falling is just such a crazy note to end on
Aang meditating at the end was him letting go of katara, it doesn’t mean he can’t love her it just means he can’t be attached to her, his attachment has to be balance and to the world, great reaction!!!
Yes more of an Eastern philosophy view of things. Death is a natural part of life, and impermanence. You can love and be attached and mourn but you cannot let it dominate and rule over you it must flow as nature does like a prior Chakra lesson. It's not unlike the stuff with the Jedi and attachment in Star Wars really lol. Similar influence.
If you guys remember in one of the earlier episodes they said the avatar state is when they’re in there strongest form, but also they’re most vulnerable as well. If you die in the avatar state I believe the cycle is broken. So yes Azula really killed Aang right there. If it wasn’t for Katara special healing oasis water .
100%
Great reaction. The best season is now here 🔥
Imagine being a kid and having to wait almost a year for book 3. It felt like an eternity, but it's so worth it! It was hilarious when the entire discussion restarted once Shoshana realized it was the season finale. Yeah, our characters were definitely down and out at the end of this book. It's an incredible season, though. I'm glad yall enjoyed it! Looking forward to Book 3 reactons!
Cannot wait for season 3 ! Amazing mf reaction 🪨🔥
Can't wait for book 3 next week!!
Mai just be over it
Azula is HER
season threeeee lfgg here's where the show receives goat status
It’s okay Shoshana I was confused too about the episodes when I first saw the show on Netflix lol 😂 you’re not the only one
I have to say the earth kingdom are not kingdoms. They are one nation ruled by the earth king. King Bumi serves the earth king. He essentially is a royal governor in control of omashu. Same with the others.
Yep it's more like city states and then he rules over them. If I'm not mistaken Earth kingdom is somewhat inspired by ancient China.
“Don’t flatter yourself, you were never even a player” Azula is so cold 😂
This episode shook me to my core as a kid lol
W finale
W reaction you two
I'm so ready for this.
Also remember that Aang could’ve died and he was still in the avatar state, so the cycle of avatar could’ve ended.
technically, he did die. Katara brought him back with the spirit water
