Season 1 episode 12 "The Storm" explains how Zuko came to get his scar and why.
My favorite detail in this episode is Zuko hesitating to say his cover name. In episode 2, he calls himself Li, and his uncle is Mushi. Except in this episode, the kid introduced himself as Li, so Zuko probably found it weird or sus if he were to say Li as well. But like is said by a certain master, "There's a million Li's"

I can't wait for The Tales of Ba Sing Se. I knew it could never live up to the original, but I couldn't believe the character assassination of Iroh in the live action, it was disgusting.
They are a few years before Zuko gets his scar and exile in that flashback. Ozai was fire lord for a bit already when that happened. I recommend going back to the season 1 scene about Zuko's scar as it's pretty important to know the details. Great reaction ty.
Guys you already saw why he burned Zuko back in the episode "The Storm" from season 1. He spoke out of turn in a war meeting and "disrespected" the fire lord (his dad) and thus was put to a duel as punishment. Upon seeing it was his father whom he had to duel, he refused to fight, was scarred for his "weakness," and as punishment for refusing to fight he was banished to hunt down the Avatar

Absolutely legendary voice actor, his role in the Arkham games is my favorite aside from his legendary on-screen appearance
Zuko was burned by ozai later in his life. This flashback takes place years before he got his scar. Now these events no doubt played into that of course so your not entirely wrong.

Ozai is voiced by Mark Hamil who played Luke Skywalker. He’s done a lot of voices for animation, most famously Joker in various DC properties.

How zuko got his scar was already explained in the previous season. Essentially zuko spoke up during a war meeting in a “disrespectful” way which led to him having to fight his father. But zuko refused to fight so Ozai gave him that scar and banished him for his “weakness”.

One of my absolute favorite episodes. Glad yall enjoyed it as well. We'll be able to explain the details of this episode waaaaay later. Remember Zuko got his eye burned for speaking out against the war general. I think the story was told in Season 1 in the episode called The Storm(?). You'll love the backstories of this series for sure.
No it’s never explained in the show, but the fire lord did order ozai to kill zuko, and zukos mother offered herself instead
That makes no sense no? Why would Ozai let them go through with killing her when he was planning to kill Azulon anyway? Or was him dying really just a coincidence? I always thought she made sure he died and then fled or got captured because of that.
Zuko definitely has the best back story in the show
this is the only downside of this episode they didnt explain the moms ending scene very well at all everyone was clueless

“That must be the reason he had to fight him in the first place” no if you remember zuko was much older when he dueled his father, his father was fire lord when they fought each other the flash back is earlier than that
