Had to visit this reaction after watching it finally. This film is twisted.
The scary thing about this movie is the possessed girl doing horrible things isn't the villain. He's the villain. Even when Nikki was begging for freedom. He couldn't do it. He couldn't even kill himself to set her free. He's the one obsessed. She's just possessed.

My take on the movie and the synopsis and final lesson is “wishing for something that isnt meant to be can ruin everything that you cherish presently “ which can only represent part of the film but sums up everything

Bear is one of the most despicable characters I've seen in a while
If they ever made a sequel…and I *pray* that they do NOT make one…is Bear medically did “die”, which cancels his wish, but is managed to be resuscitated somehow after the events of this film, so would still be obsessed with the now freed Nikki because of fake Nikki’s wish, and he proceeds to go after her. Of course, she’d likely be incarcerated for (at least) the two murders, and the plot would end up becoming needlessly convoluted, as would any other potential sequel concept. I hope the director simply just leaves this one alone and keeps going on to make dynamic, prolific content like this movie. Terrifier (particularly the second and third one) made these kinds of low budget, dirty, visceral, Grindhouse horror films not only somehow accessible to a mainstream audience, but legitimately desirable. And I *really* hope that this is the new Hollywood genre trend for a while replacing the over-saturated superhero, shared universe tripe (which I also was an initial passionate fan of), but whose bubble didn’t even get to burst, it just pathetically deflated into exponentially decreasing box office sales. I will gladly take this for a while. That is until it suffers the same fate that every Hollywood genre trend does, and is inevitably replaced by the next one. But for now…This will do just nicely 😍🥰
Probably controversial to say but sadly I think some people would make that same wish he did. Poor Nikki that was a messed up thing to do.
The director and cast were adamant that Nikki is not possessed or controlled by a demon or entity or anything like that. It’s the thing Bear wished for that is cursed. The cashier man at the store said he already used his wish and he’s alive and well and Ian also got his billion dollars and would have lived on happily. Bear essentially wished to remove Nikki’s autonomy, and take away her right to choose. The different necklaces she wears are symbolic of the stages of her losing herself. In the beginning with the crystal necklace (this is when she was closest to her normal self), then a little later with a necklace with no crystal (this is also around the time that she gave Bear the tiger’s eye, literally giving away her confidence and willpower), then we move to scenes where she wears no necklace at all, and then towards the end of the movie she’s wearing a necklace with the letter B on it. Each time she suddenly switches or yells WTF or suddenly runs at Bear that’s the normal Nikki trying to break free. This makes the ‘intimate’ scene a lot more sinister knowing normal Nikki did not consent to it. At the party notice she read about the incest relationship between Hansel and Gretel, and remember she told Sarah she sees Bear as a little brother. At the end she’s not only wearing Sarah’s dress and drawn on her tattoos but she’s also wearing Sarah’s scalp/hair. Bear takes no accountability for his actions even from the beginning; when sandy died it wasn’t “I really should’ve put these pills away” it was “how did you get into these?”. When he called One Wish Willow not to cancel the wish but to ALTER it (because he still wanted to control her and make her be the Nikki he wanted her to be) and the man said do you want to speak to Nikki, that was normal Nikki screaming in agony and Bear just hung up. Somehow everyone else knew Nikki wasn’t close with her dad/doesn’t speak to him except Bear. He barely even knew Nikki. Even when normal Nikki is begging him to kill her while “she’s asleep”, she’s more or less telling him it’s not her and his response was “what’s so bad about being with me” and she says she’s never been with him so he knows in that moment that none of it is real yet he allowed it all to continue instead of just offing himself right then and there. Had he offed himself then Sarah and Ian would’ve lived. Even in the end he still tried to make himself throw up so he wouldn’t die, still choosing himself. So Nikki is stuck with three bodies and no friends. If the story carried on she would definitely end up in jail for life thanks to Bear. It’s also interesting that they chose the name “Bear” amid the current “Would you rather be alone with a man or a bear” topic. Great reaction, this movie is sooo good and has so many layers 💕
Legit all time CLASSIC. The ending scene made me tear up a bit in the theater. I saw it 4 times by the way. Top 50 film all time!!
I kind of love how Bear isn't your typical horror protagonist. You can't root for him and he is more of a villain than normal horror characters. Also shoutout to y'all for reacting to it! Love the reactions and this is one of my favorite horror movies in recent years. Fun Fact: When Bear calls the One Wish Willow company number, that's the director Curry Barker on the phone speaking.
i seen a theory and whether it’s true or not it makes the movie so cool, so basically long story short bears cat that dies is in possession of nikki explaining the glowing eyes, cat memorial and eating, the movement and much more!!

I heard about this movie from a Co worker, never saw it, but I saw a bunch of people just recently reacted to it. So I decided to watch it with you guys... before bed. Not sure if that was a good idea... lol... But yeah, this movie was amazing, on the edge of my seat, loved watching it with you guys!
All Bear had to do was say yes to her question at the car and this entire movie would have never happened!

for a follow up.. not sure if a sequel will happen essentially but i believe the director said in his next film they’ll be a mention of the aftermath so we’ll know what happened to Nikki but it’ll just be a mention
He said that it could be an anthology and that makes the most sense, I’m not sure how would you continue the story from this point so making it an anthology makes more sense
I JUST watched this like 4 hrs ago and I'm TRAUMATISED for LIFE. Glad y'all get to be traumatised with me. Dawg actually betrayed friend code for selfish sick desire. Glad he died, not glad she's mentally f*ckered for life because of him. Glad y'all were here for this one cos holy shi-- Sidenote: After watching this again, I genuinely believe most of her weird behaviour is the real Nikki fighting back. Watching him sleep...from aaaall the way in the corner, feeding him the cat and the glitches...I think everytime she fights back the Wish puppeteers her even harder. the acting is better in this i feel like since it was also written by a basically young adult rather than like a 40 year old trying to speak like a teenager.. glad Shoshana called that out specifically —— it took me 2 watches in theaters to really like the movie in full because the very start was rough for me but overall W watch
I won’t be watching this till the weekend, is the one they watch the unrated extended one? That has extra stuff for the head into car window smashing scene for instance I read about.

Y’all asked for it, we got it. Despite having a limited budget, this Focus Features film is taking the world by storm. By the way, they filmed the diner booth scene in an actual restaurant up in North Hollywood called Little Toni. The booth itself became so popular that customers are now lining up to take pictures of it, recreate the scene or even just have a dinner date there. A magic shop in Burbank is receiving the same attention.
Sean Baker is another director who has mastered films with super tiny budgets. His film ANORA was made in just a $6 million budget, and Baker won 4 Oscars for that film (Picture, Director, Original Screenplay, and Editing), becoming the only person ever to win that many for a single movie. Looking back now, ANORA was in many ways a signal of what is occurring right now in terms of low budget storytelling.

Kind of insane that this has now officially overtaken SINNERS’s lifetime box office grosses. This film is now the highest grossing live action film of the decade that isn’t a biopic/historical film nor a sequel/franchise entry.
I thought no way that’s true but I’m reading through the list of top grossing 2020s movies and there’s like 2 or 3 exceptions - project Hail Mary and some foreign movies. Unlike PHM and maybe those others, obsession isn’t based on anything book or any existing properties. Pretty crazy
