EmuDeck EA 2.6 + Status report
Hello there!
Sorry it's been a while, I needed some time off after what happened with Playnix... and with that I start the status reports on what's going on right now:
Playnix
Playnix was a big success, so big I had to shut it down :( Long story short, I had to deal with a lot of red tape and regulations from the US, the FCC, the EU, etc. it was just too much that I couldn't continue with the project. It was a really hard decision to make and it was a big hit both emotionally and financially to me, I've been in a really really dark place for the last month... but I'm better now!
Due to the cancelation of the project I won't be able to sell more units but I'll be open sourcing the whole project in the near future so anybody can 3D print its own Playnix at home and I'll also be porting some of the features I coded for playnixOS to cachyOS.
I have plenty of leftover stock so maybe I'll do some builds with a Fractal Ridge case and the Playnix hardware, so stay tuned for that.
EmuDeck Cloud 2
I'm switching providers for the EmuDeck cloud backend, this will be a 100% transparent change for the user, current users will stay on the same provider and new users will get the new provider. Feature wise everything will be the same. More on this soon.
EmuDeck Android EA
We are working on some new features for Android:
New launcher to replace Pegasus. This one will have out of the box CloudSync support so you don't have to manually upload / download your saves. You just launch a game and your saves are synced.
More emulators for devices like the AYN Thor.
EmuDeck EA
We are still working on the upcoming 3.0, the rest of the team kept working on it while I was away so it's coming along quite nicely. But before 3.0, we are launching 2.6 today, a small update with some fixes:

Adds a button to change your Token / License
Steam Machine support (No, I don't have a review unit :D )

Will the next Android EA version support the anbernic rg rotate? cocoon 3.0, thats supposed to release in a few days, will support it and together with emudeck this will be awesome.

I hope with this new update to cloud sync it’ll work correctly this time I’ve been bashing my head in since emudeck cloud sync does not want to work on Xenia or azahar emulators, I don’t even think it works at all it refuses to upload and then I try to download through my PC and it won’t work. Even tried SMB with my NAS and it doesn’t work.
please post your issue on the discord Cloudsync server! because it does work with them :)

Thank you for the update. As a daily user of my Playnix console, you did amazing work. Be proud of what you've accomplished. Shutting it down or not you still accomplished it, they can't Take that away. Would love to hear more about the shift of PlaynixOS too. Looking forward to more wonderful things 😊
Is the retro library going to be something that will return?
I think relying on Decky was a mistake, we are always going to be one SteamOS update away of things going south. I might try to revisit the idea and launch it as an external plugin in the Decky Store but not bundling it as a part of EmuDeck, we'll see.
Thank you for the update. Sorry to hear about Playnix, it was very impressive what you did. But glad to hear that you stepped back to take care of yourself (been there myself). Continue to take care of yourself. Mental health is real.

I'm so glad your feeling better! I've been in really dark places myself so I'm sorry you had to go through that mate. It's a really awful feeling. Take it easy and look after yourself. And you can bet that I'll be there for your Fractal Ridge builds! After what Valve are most likely going to charge for their Steam Machine, I think what you were able to accomplish in terms of value is phenomenal all things considered. :) Take Care!
