I never finished season 3 partway. The soft feelings and the pain this anime kept giving me was... a little too close to home with my human emotions, and how human of a story and other interconnected characters life effects and shapes the world's around them.
Uh…there is no Season 3 of March Comes In Like a Lion…there’s only two… Are you talking about quitting after the first cour of Season 2? That’s kind of a weird place to drop it since you’ve already seen the most “emotional” parts of the anime.

For reference, the meal Rei treated to Matsunaga is about £40-50. And thats without accounting the sake.
These episodes evoke stronger emotions in me than most dramatic or fighting anime. It's simply a profound exploration of the human psyche, without right answers, just thought. The old man doesn't know if he likes playing shogi; we might say he does, but the series never explicitly gives you an answer. It just flows. And besides, we're literally seeing Rei's mindset develop based on the people he meets, which is... something real.
