That's so frustrating that they didn't translate that ED, it's literally there to teach you how to play Shogi. What a massive blunder.
Hot Spring eggs are poached inside their shell instead of outside of them, which gives it a texture more different than you'd expect. They call them hot spring eggs because they used to literally cook them in hot springs (since they're already maintained at the perfect temperature for it) but obviously anyone can make them with water heated to that temp at home.
Beyoncé reactions please 🤍
Always love hearing Nobuhiko Okamoto screaming his lungs out, whether it's as Bakugo or Nikaido
Nice break from the existential dread this series gives me <3
This is one of my favorite anime, and I am really glad to see you react to it. When this show was airing weekly (back in 2016), I felt the loneliest I had ever felt in my life. (I have been physically lonelier than I was at the time, but I have never felt more alone than I did then.) While I definitely haven't had as rough a time as Rei, I found myself relating to him quite heavily at the time. My favorite parts of the show were always when he was with Akari, Hinata, and Momo. Their house was the warmth that I looked forward to every week. For me, I loved that their house was warm, despite the darkness in their lives, and (looking back on it now) I feel that is what made the house feel so safe to me at the time.
Love love love this episode for Rei’s emotional growth
I actually think you’ll enjoy March Comes in Like a Lion the more it goes on. The show really is centered on Rei’s emotional growth and the first half of Season 1 is tough because you’re seeing him at his low. He’s living on his own for the first time, his family died, his foster family became a nightmare to live with. If you think about it, Rei’s entire childhood has been an absolutely brutal experience for him. What you’re ultimately seeing is the Kawamoto family, Nikaidou, and a few other characters breaking him out of his shell. I won’t say any more because I don’t want to spoil, but just get ready, this show is going to take you on a ride and I think you’ll like where the final destination will be (sort of because this show needs a 3rd Season in the worst way).
I agree! Looking forward to re-experiencing the story myself!
Obviously you don’t need to love or hate everything but for most series it seems like you love everything, obviously you don’t but it sometimes feels like that. I think that’s why people say that. There have been far too many occasions where I see you react to something and say it’s one of the best things of said genre. Again obviously makes sense, part of the job but I get how people can hear that and then when they hear negativity on the thing they like they go ballistic I love Rei so much, it’s such a simple subversion of expectations, but you wouldn’t expect him to get so heated over his friend calling him out on smth, he’s shy to even call Nikaidou a friend.
Another reaction! thanks for sharing it! <3
Rei isn't losing on purpose, but he is playing recklessly and getting too wrapped up in his emotions. Like Nikaidou said "there is a difference between recklessness and bravery". The NHK cup match he played was a tournament, which is different from the rank deciding matches. In a tournament players are matched up regardless of their rank, so long as they keep winning. The rank deciding matches are only played with people in the same rank as yourself. I think when Nikaidou says he was more single minded back in the 3rd dan league its because that is the league right before someone becomes a professional. Back then, Rei had the goal to become a professional and leave his foster home. He had strong motivation and drive. Since he achieved that goal, he has become lost and now the effort he puts in is the "half measure" that he is ashamed of himself for taking. Not quite the same as purposely losing, but just not putting in the full effort required to get better and progress.
Double March this week?!
Eating good this week
