I love whenever you watch another episode. I know its a hard watch sometimes, but i hope you stick with it and enjoy it for what it is. For me the way it explores the characters and portrays emotions with its exceptional art and music just really hits home and its really one of a few series that does this for me. Hopefully we'll see a rainbow after the storm.

You are correct, this story is just a human story Its dark and deep, but rest assured, seeing everyone in this story deal with their situations and witnessing their development is incredibly rewarding!

Yeah, I feel these days 'Slice of Life' has become synonymous with light, fun stories about everyday life. But the genre is quite literal in its name. It's just a slice of life, whether it be a story exploring a specific tragedy, emotion or idea, or even the fun, mundane everyday which is often thought of these days. It's one of my favorite genres when done right, which sadly isn't too often these days.

now you know why he was so upset about beating his "father" in episode 1. He feels the pain he causes whenever he surpassed his adopted siblings and in episode 1 we see him surpass his "father" in an official ranked match. Also, you're exactly right about how this show is all about human emotion. Its an excellent depiction of how everyone has something that they're going through.

This anime is mostly about depression and ptsd, and the way it present itself in the most unexpected moments. The art Studio Shaft and the original artist of this manga use to portray it is an awesome way to show it in an "easier" way to understand.

I can’t say for sure because of how amazing this show is but I feel like this is one of my favorites. It’s not just telling us about rei’s past. It sets the stage for his character as a whole, he isn’t on this path because he wanted to or wished to be here, but because of that one lie he made. And so now he can’t get off the train he jumped onto.

A slave to his own grief and regret

Yeah it starts dark, since we need to understand everyones problems to see them either deal with them, or start healing. All of this is after all before he met Akari, Hina and Momo.

Horrible situation to be in but that is pretty accurate to how children would react to a new kid in the family who is showing them up.

So excited for this episode reaction. I love the way they do Rei's backstory here.
