its the competition aspect that makes you cringe in episode 4. the risk of failure. i think im starting to handle watching your lie in april again. though its so weird seeing certian lines of dialogue a bit differently this time. i think maybe i need to look at the scenery more to push through.

Oh i am noticing more stuff i have never noticed even after multiple rewatches. Luke, your gonna have to try keep some of the lines and moments here in mind, they will be relevant again. this anime is so close to perfection it's unreal.

It's no coincidence that the direction is so good, and it's directed by Toshimasa Ishii, the same director of works you've already seen that are very good in this aspect, such as Erased, 86, and of course, the writing itself is beautiful.
