When season 1 released like 2 or 3 ep i went ahead and read the whole thing. I do not think this anime is underrated at all, it is beautifully made and it left an impression on me that i still remember after finishing it. Also interesting to see peoples theories on whats gonna happen, im just enjoying the ride now with actual animation^^

For Chobei...Gabi literally fought him made him lose control of himself which was the direct cause of him hurting his only family his brother and it was due to his fight with Gabi that he fell into the Tensen's hands...as such he really doesn't have any reasons why he should let them leave especially since he doesn't know if their plan would succeed and he wants to make sure his brother is safe by his side

I feel like Gabimaru, Sagiri squad will make it out, they make it off the island together with the leader of the new squad. They somehow convince him that their story about the godlike creatures on this island wanting to turn everyone on the mainland into tao, and next season takes place on the mainland. Your theory about them playing hide and seek honestly sounds pretty plausible, if you think about the ending of Demon Slayer (As far as you've seen it). They literally get dropped into the Infinity Castle which is filled with every demon, and then therers 3 movies

How did he betray them, he was never on their side to begin with. Their first interaction was to literally throw hands.
