Looking forward to the Genre Tournament
When you get right down to it Log Horizon is a dangerous anime. It's the kind of story that can inspire a gamer to dive recklessly into a new MMORPG or perhaps even buy a VR headset on impulse - all just to chase the dream of Log Horizon that represents gaming is at it's best. Even earlier today I was reading about the new player housing system Blizzard is introducing into WoW (after 20 years of waiting) and I would be lying if I wasn't tempted to reactivate my sub...
One important thing I would like to say about the series in case no one has brought it up (I haven't caught up with all of the reactions yet). It partly has to do with Luke's complaint about how it doesn't make sense that none of the players seem like they care about going home (ignoring that entire faction of knights whose only goal it is to die over and over so that they can see their original world in their death dreams...). The show keeps referencing an expansion that was launching for the game called The Novasphere Pioneers. This is a horrible and inaccurate Crunchyroll translation that they have never been arsed to fix. I forget what the correct translation is, but the real name is a reference to a socio-philosophical thought experiment that asks what a person would do if all of their basic needs were met and they were not required to do anything to survive. Expanding upon this further, what if the person was exceptional in some way? Do exceptional people do exceptional things in the course of doing the things they need to do to survive simply because they are exceptional, or are exceptional people driven to do exceptional things as part of their nature, regardless of any other reason? (Apologies. Something has come up. I do not want to delete this. I will finish my explanation tomorrow. In the meantime, think of this. All of the important characters in the show are exceptional in some way. Think about what they have done, what they keep doing and what they hope to do. Then think about why they are doing any of it instead of spending their time early on trying to do things they don't even know how to begin to try to do, like going home, or just doing nothing at all.)
The original socio-philosophical paper sounds really interesting, I had to look it up. It's called 'Homesteading the Noosphere' by Eric S. Raymond; a genuine peice of 90s hacker culture right there. Almost gives Log Horizon a bit of a Ghost in the Shell vibe, the only thing missing is having characters randomly quoting philosophy while investigating a cybercrime.
@GOTGames can you please to react to (Mori Calliope Featuring Kobo Kanaeru) (song Midnight Mayoi)
hopefully my hero academia soon, I know he would love it!
When will the voting for the replacement take place?
This Saturday
yes ! thanks
Log horizon season 4 will most likely never happen, the end of season 3 almost caught up to latest vol of the novel, with only 1 novel of story it impossible to adapt into a season of anime, plu the last vol of the novel come out in 2017 and it just stop there, not cancel it just stop
Sad but true
Maybe after this one we get the series catchup streams? Konosuba, Eminence, Spy family? Im coping
