One thing you have to remember fushi is like a child or person who has had very little knowledge of people and the world. That shop with gugu and the others with some interaction with town people he does not know that there are people who lie cheat and steal. He also does not realize when he is being led into a obvious trap. So him not breaking out it on the ship is right because he is not smart enough to think of a way to get out without getting caught. While he has enough knowledge to go day to day in a regular life when it come to fighting and being witty he is basically a toddler. Point being why he is terrible at fighting knokkers.
25:12 "Look at all these dead people!" Luke learned. He understood. He came to grok this series. 👏👏👏 26:00 I never quite got why this little biatch thought it was cool to snatch an old lady and an idiot and throw them in with criminals. Even the dude at the facility was like "This dude shouldn't be here, right?"
10:42 I'm wondering that, too. I would have thought you'd have contemplated the dead peoples' faces on the wall before this. 🤣😭
Hey! So, while I understand your critique of the ending, I think his abilities weren't of much use on the boat. He can only turn into the boy, wolf, and gugu. So he cant squeeze through the bars or bust it open. And as you saw, he really hasn't prepared offensively aside from his spears/arrows
Loving a good character is never wasted... And that's all I'll say to not spoil you ofcourse. On another note, this is the first time I've rewatched this wonderful Anime since it aired and I'm amazed at how much is foreshadowed this early. When you get to the end, remember this episode and rewatch it. 😏 Such good storytelling!
Did you forget the old lady is a criminal?
The randomness, the way they pushed a forced arena onto the story that makes it feel weird, super sudden, confusing and made you annoyed at the way the episode ended, Aren’t those what Fushi would feel in this situation? Can a writer make story writing choices that would be usually be bad story writing on purpose to put emotion in the readers? Perhaps your supposed to feel that way and putting it right at the start of an arch where it’s too early to make judgement is probably the best place for this risky move.
people in the comments are lowkey spoiling stuff. i think this arc focuses less on how they got there and more on development and stuff. keep in mind the knocker got away on water and now hes on a damn island.
No you’re right, the peak of this show is already over
The show went downhill After Gu Gu Arc for me imo. I basically just dropped the show
Fushi not reacting in a more forceful manner does feel weird, given how he was so keen to protect Pioran earlier. But I think you are expecting to know the reason for everything too soon. Let's see how the anime plays out over the next few series. Things may make more sense once more information is given.
I think you shouldn’t judge fushi and his decision among like he’s an actual person yet. He still has a long way to go to grasp concepts and stuff despite his appearance his mental age is still pretty young
Wait, let to your eternity cook
Ah, sht.... here we go again! BTW the arena thing could be very good if it doesnt last more than an episode or 2. Fushi does need to learn how to fight as well as gain new weapons and forms. This experience is exactly what he needs
Yeah this arc is not as good. But it does set things up for more complicated, better, stuff later. Still, wasn't the biggest fan overall of how prison island plays out.
It’s okay, Luke. Even as someone who is a big fan of this show, this was honestly one of my least favorite episodes as well for a lot of the reasons you explained. It doesn’t help that this “bad” episode happens after one of the best episodes in the entire show, so the tonal whiplash is quite noticeable. However, let me preface something for you. The island prison arc is the longest arc of the first season and the way they introduced it wasn’t the best. However, I will say give the show some time to build it up because there’s going to be a lot more moving parts with this arc than previous arcs (and it will only get more complicated in season 2). I guess what I am trying to say is, I understand your reaction, but give it some time and it will eventually all make sense. This is just one of those transition episodes that with the tonal whiplash it has with previous arcs, it feels out-of-place, but it won’t with time.
I'll alwats love Fushi's relationship with Pioran
I for one am glad to hear you speak up when something isn't clicking for you. No show is perfect, and being critical of something isn't a negative thing in moderation. Being afraid to speak your mind because your viewers want you to love something isnt a good spot to be with your audience, so I'm glad you're able to avoid that. And its all just opinions anyway. My favorite shows aren't your favorites, and yours aren't mine. But are either of us wrong? No we're allowed to have different opinions. As far as To Your Eternity goes, I think its very front heavy. I love the first episode to death, and think the first 5 or so are really strong. But each arc I feel less invested, and more episodes feel okay or even bad instead of really good. I don't want to influence your view and definitely don't want to spoil anything, so I'll keep it vague. Just this show had a million directions it could have gone, and the way it went wasn't the most interesting in my opinion. And its not like its bad by any means, its just that its decent when it had the chance to be really special.
Don't hate he arc on a start. To your eternity is your chef, rest assured, they will cook xD
Luke, all I can say is, let To Your Eternity cook. All will make sense by the time it's over. Just let it cook :)
The randomness, the way they pushed a forced arena onto the story that makes it feel weird, super sudden, confusing and made you annoyed at the way the episode ended, Aren’t those what Fushi would feel in this situation? i didn't like the episode too.
"It's an army of zombies" Pffffff hahahaha
Second half of this episode, Luke is wondering why To Your Eternity turned into To Your Annoyance.
10:57 the rock lol
As most of the people that already commented I agree that the pacing of the episode was different and I didn’t like it. This arc is not the best but it has its moments. And Fushi didn’t do anything on the way to the prison island because he still doesn’t have a good way to move on the water, if the nokkers attack him on the boat and they destroy the boat it will be the end for Fushi.
This a keep watching moment of all time
This show changes its pacing and its way of narrating multiple times. You'll see as time goes by. They could've fixed this rushed episode by adding extra 1-2 eps but not enough time and budget. But looking in retrospective for me it's not that bad now.
i absolutely love this anime nut i just never gave a damn about this arc. its so annoying to watch even if its almost decent by the end. almost nothing is lost if these episodes are skipped in my opinion but at least season 2 is a banger all the way through for me.
As much as I love To Your Eternity, it is not flawless. This arc wasn't one of my favorites.
"Look at all these dead people" I died laughing when Luke said that hahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"Im gonna wait to pass judgement" Immediately passes judgement based on 5 minutes on the island. 😂 Don't be so quick to judge. Fushi breaks out of the cell, he'd immediately have a ship full of hostile people after him. What's he gonna do, run away? To Your Eternity doesn't just stay the same, give it a chance before you jump the gun. And remember that Fushi is essentially still a child at this point.
i get where you're coming from. it all feels a little too contrived and forced that this random girl for no reason just so happens to kidnap Fushi and Pioran out of all people there. but i guess plot gotta plot
I agree the pacing of this episode was poor. I had the same concerns. No need to worry. It is less a tournament arc and more of tool to understand the characters. Plus more I can not mention because of spoilers. You will definitely find something to feel this arc.
I remember dreading every week, waiting for each episode. This was my most memorable personal hell.
Alright we're onto the second cour. While far from perfect, there's many good moments! This arc can be lackluster but the show remains one of my favorites
Yeah I had a similar reaction to this part. To Your Eternity is great, one of my favorites, but far from perfect. The root of the show is probably one of the most original and interesting there is which is why it stings more than usual when we get the occasional batch of cliches and times things just happen all to be a means to an end. Still looking forward to more
From here on, Luke will get more and more disappointed, angry and frustrated... Let's just say that the only good thing about Fushi is his abilities. While the brains... well it's something else...
❤️❤️
everyone forgets the rock
Mama Match.... :'( Luke, everyone dies, no matter what. Getting attached is not a bad thing. (Not a spoiler, just life. I'm gonna die too. Please remember me.) Can't live FOREVER, unless you are Fushi. No comment on the rant.
"Nokkers" not nokker, so it's plural, also they've killed some before, of course there's more them one. Also why would the man in black willingly create his own enemies? And why wouldn't he be able to control them as his can with Fushi? An army of zombies you say...? You're passing judgement too fast, just wait. 🤦♂️
