I was also bummed about the lack of a reunion, I know why, but it would have been interesting to see lol
Only reason Thorfinn and Leif didn't have too much of a reunion is because of Arnheid's drastic situation, he arrived right as she got beaten by Ketil. It's a bad spot to be in so I don't think Leif's first thought was to have that moment with Thorfinn during that. But I get why you felt bummed out because I also thought it was weird they didn't show it, until I thought about it more
19:50 - Byzantine... hes Byzantine... from Constantinopole more particularly
25:05 The inscription, “+Ulfbert”on Ketil’s sword is historically accurate. It was considered a technologically superior, legendary weapon for that time. To give you some perspective, it’s equivalent to what Valerian Steel swords were in Game Of Thrones. This probably added credence behind his iron fist charade.
I feel like we need to have a small chat about Thorfinn's combat ability. This isn't a battle shonen. Thorfinn doesn't have the power of Thor and friendship that will allow him to single handedly take down an entire fleet of Jolmsvikings. He's a good fighter, yes. But he isn't the strongest person in existence. Since its come up a lot this season, I think its a good time to emphasize that this anime is not about fighting and Thorfinn is not some overpowered guy who just doesn't want to fight. As for Canute, while he may have a respect for Thorfinn that allowed him to just sell him as a slave instead of kill him, they aren't buds. Thorfinn never liked or cared about Canute and Canute saw Thorfinn as useful and likely only spared him out of respect for Askeladd. So right now there's literally no reason to go say "Hi" to the guy who sold you into slavery especially when he shows up to slaughter everyone on the farm.
The Stag is a representation of Einar and the Wolf a representation of Thorfinn. If you look back at the 2nd OP for season on they show Thorfin and a Wolf, to representation his "lone wolf" attitude. Garder says: "Are you afraid? Don't worry. We'll be out of these dark woods soon. This place is a heap of pain and despair. A forest of Beasts who thirst for blood. Not a place to foster life." Then we see the stag & Wolf (beasts but also life living within the forest Garder just described. Arnheid says while looking at the Stag & Wolf: "But They're still here. Lives try to survive here." To Arnheid, both Einar and Thofinn represent the hope, the life trying to survive in that woods of pain and despair. They are still living even with the poor circumstances they are existing in.
Didn't see any "artillery" in use, but the Vikings were historically pretty good archers, something often neglected in movies or TV. It was nice to see the Jomsvikings in action again.
8:10 lol your wife is gonna smack you
I have no Enemies its comming
Also > *A bow appears in anime* > Luke: "Did you know archeologists can recognize longbowmen simply by their skeletal structure?..." xD Love it
There are a lot of his reasons I love his videos but the random facts and info is a major part of it, it's been super fun in Vinland Saga
The thing about Ketil not being the Iron Fist was known since around episode 3. He confesed to Arnheid after beating those kids. You probably forgot.
You're extremely close when you guessed Snake's armour was middle-eastern. He's a warrior of Miklagard, which was the Norse name for Constantinople/Istanbul. The Author initially wanted to do a spinoff manga about Snake's backstory but he never got around to it. He passed his notes to the anime director so they could intersperse Season 2 with flashbacks to Snake's backstory, but they couldn't find room for it either.
I pray for the day we get a Snake OVA 🙏 but I know it's unlikely
bruh the stories of your family life sounds so hilarious and/or wholesome every time.
Luke you have told the longbow man story at least 1 time in each of your vinland saga reactions. We know 😭
Grandpa Luke: Did I ever tell you all about the longbow men? Tell us again, Grandpa Luke! lol
Canute had Thorfinn sold into slavery. They’re not bros.
Those Arnheid's parts are sure heartbreaking, but i remember the feeling they evoked when watching them the first time. The manga was already very emotional, but the anime was able to craft a marvel out of it.
i have no history knowledge at all but i don't think ketil's men really have a strategy, ketil has gone mad so he probably made them go as close as possible thinking they'd kill the king faster lol
Luke, Keh-Till…. Ketil.
lmao the wife rant
thorfinn and leif reunited at the end of last episode you must have missed it. but no they didn't show the initial meeting just them together
I have seen some say that the author did not feel the a joyous reunion between Lief and Thorfin felt right after the tone of Episode 18.
You better believe next episode will deliver on its name.
