I’ve been an Atlanta resident for the past 11 years and TIP ain’t let me down yet!
This is T.I's classic album in my opinion. He was riding high with the release of the album and ATL the movie at or around the same time. Every song on it sounds triumphant like he just knew he won. It's his most complete project song wise. He covered all bases from joints for the women to big hit records that the fellas can chant and ride to. It sounds like The South. This album showcases his ability to write great songs. Super polished sound from the beats to the rhymes.
The opening just sets the table you’re gonna know he’s gonna feel it right away. It’s a long one so I’m curious how the momentum holds up in a single listen. Most excited for seeing his reaction to Top Back - I think even not knowing it’s a single you know it’s a ready made hit.
I think it’s important to let Pops know how TI made southern hip-hop more acceptable across all regions. Even though OutKast is GOATed. TIP is the reason ATL became what it became hip-hop wise.
TIP was the hottest thing smoking when this dropped. Urban Legend was the album that put him on the national radar, & KING is where he took off alongside the release of ATL. It’s his most versatile early albums. My dad bought me the Walmart clean version so I had to learn & fill in the curses myself lol. Here are 3 of my favorite songs off the album. Personal: Live In The Sky Best: Top Back Slept On: Hello
This classic album is the 20th anniversary and It came out the same year the ATL movie starring TI came out in 2006, for me, the most underrated is Live In The Sky featuring Jamie Foxx, and its personally one of my all time favorite albums with most repeats with songs like Top Back and What You Know, those songs can get my mind right most of the time and believe either one of them are the best song on the album imo from a repeat standpoint, I got it #1 or at the minimum #2 to Urban Legend for his best album and Paper Trail 3rd but Trap Muzik, TI vs TIP and No Mercy need they respect too
Best song is Goodlife
Man I’m too excited for this one. That album always gives me a nostalgia like purple rain of my generation because I was a teenager when that album in the movie ATL came out. I know a lot of soundtrack albums were common at that time but you could tell this one seriously and wasn’t just some promo for the movie. Fav Track: What U Know even with it being a single Underrated is “I’m straight”
Classic t.i album
Best song is : What you Know ofc Most underrated: Why you wanna Something everyone gets wrong: people think the album name “King” is him calling his self king but it’s actually named after his son King And fun fact: on “ Top back” when he says “Mannie fresh I’m gonna show these 🥷’s what to do with one of yo beats mane” he said that because the beat was originally made for Juvenile but he didn’t like it
gooood takes!!
After this album they start calling TI the jay-z of the south! Even got a vibe magazine cover saying it lol
danggg i remember that magazine!
