Some Changes To The Patreon?

When I first started this whole patreon thing, I was mainly just sharing modular VTT style maps that folks could piece together and use in their games (the print & paste stuff was just a bit of a side project that lived over on my blog if I’m remembering things right).

However, as you’ve no doubt noticed, over time, the print and paste content has taken more and more of a front seat… and is now the main focus of most of what I produce.

As such, I’m not sure that some of the reward levels (and the various goals I’ve set for myself) are all that relevant any more, and so I think it’s time to shake things up a bit.

So, in this post I’m just going to talk about the (aforementioned) reward levels (I’ll discuss the ‘goals’ in another post). Anyway, the current options are:

Free members (who can follow all the unlocked posts).

$1 members (who also have access to a few bonus/WIP textures, early access to a few videos that don’t rely on being released at the same time as a pdf. In addition they gain access to the members only section of the Discord server, and first refusal to join in any ‘drop-in’ style games that I run online – which, again, is usually organised over on Discord).

$5 members (who have access to any ‘what should I do next’ polls).

$10 members (who get their name added to the thank you section at the end of each episode – if they so choose).

$15 members (who can put one full page map together using my VTT tiles – and use them in their own commercial products).

$25 members (there’s no real added benefit for this – it’s just there in case anyone wants to show their support in a really generous way).

And, obviously, each time you go up a tier, you also get the benefits of all the tiers below it.

Now, I think the $1, $10, and $25 levels are fine, however folks don’t really get much for the $5 tier… and the $15 tier isn’t really used any more.

So, I was thinking of scrapping the $15 tier (if folks want me to piece a map together for them for a commercial project, then it would probably be better to just contact me directly for that kind of thing, and make a one-off payment).

And I’d like to add more value to the $5 tier – but I’m not sure what. Maybe I could start sharing some of my encounters (nothing super in-depth – just something along the lines of the google doc that accompanied the build along adventure), or perhaps a two-tier thank you section at the end of the videos (i.e. the $10 folks would still have their name front and centre… but the $5 folks could be added as scrolling text down the side, or a block of smaller text, or something like that).

But if you have any ideas yourself (note that it needs to be something that’s not going to take up a huge amount of time and not slow down the production of the regular content)… then that would be good to hear!
