Toying with the idea of running an online session or two (would you be interested?)
Some time ago I mentioned that I was working on a short 'basic/starter' adventure - with the aim of having a series of short videos to accompany the pdf booklet.
The idea was that each of the main encounter areas would have a video that shows you what you'd need to build (from the existing tiles/terrain), and maybe a brief description of the encounter itself (perhaps with a bit of commentary on how it played out when I ran it myself).
Then the virus hit ...and since I was hoping to playtest the adventure a couple of times (in person) before releasing it - that's not been possible (for obvious reasons), and the whole thing has been put on hold.
And while lockdown is starting to relax here in the UK (and the FLGS where we usually congregate will be opening up again soon) - I'm still going to be playing things safe myself ...and I'll be staying home, and avoiding public spaces as much as possible (as I still have some ongoing health issues, and I'd rather not be hospitalised again if I can help it - nearly dying once in the last 12 months is quite enough for me thank you very much ;) ).
Anyway, on a lighter note, since I've run a handful of games on Roll20 these past few months, I was thinking of maybe playtesting it online as well. I mean, ideally, I'd still want to test it out in person with actual terrain on the table ...but I do have VTT maps and assets to go along with it - so it's certainly doable.
So, I'm tentatively inquiring if any of you (i.e. my patrons) would be interested in anything like that (i.e. me DMing a short game over on Roll20)?
It would likely be for one or two sessions, maybe starting at 6pm and ending at 9pm (UK time) ...probably on a weekend.
However, please be aware that this really is just me testing the waters (to gauge interest - it's quite possible that I'll chicken-out if/when it actually comes to it ...I want to be completely upfront about that :) ...running a game for folks I don't really know is quite a daunting prospect for me, I'm not an naturally outgoing person :P ).
Plus, I also worry that, just because I have a Patreon & YouTube channel, folks might automatically assume that I'm a competent DM. I'm really not - not at all ...despite the fact that I've been playing these silly games for years now, I always seem to struggle my way through things as though it's my first time at the table :)
Anyway, TL;DR: If I were to run a short adventure on Roll20 (to playtest something I've written) - would you like a seat at the (virtual) table? It would likely take 1 or 2 sessions. 6pm to 9pm UK time. Probably run over a weekend or two.
Note that this is not for a livestream or anything like that. It would be a private game - probably using discord for voice-chat, and Roll20 for the maps, mini's, and dice.

I probably missed this first round, but if you're still gauging interest for future opportunities, I, too, am interested (for Roll20 purposes for now; once we're vaccinated Europe *might* let Americans back in...)
There's one more (VTT) map I want to put together first (and real-life is getting in the way again) ...but it's still on the cards :)
I am interested, my weekly Sat night game night is moving to Weds nights due to conflicts, so I'd be interested in a weekend game or two.
Sounds interesting! I have a couple default characters I can play to just explore your concepts without derailing anything :p
There's probably nothing in this little adventure that folks haven't seen a 100 times before to be honest. The title pretty much sums it up :)
and don't worry about "not being a competent DM". I have been gaming online since I was a kid, playing DnD weekly for about 10 years, and this is my first year DMing. I stumble all over the place all the time but my group still pats me on the back & says I did a good job. I just wanna have fun playing & if everyone else is having fun, then that's good for me too! :-)
Count me in for sure!
Yes. I am interested.
I would love to try and be one of the folks helping with this. I have been a GM for over 30 years for various versions and game systems. In my personal life I am also QA for a software company so that gives me a level of detachment to give honest but constructive feedback without taking or showing anything personal about it. I have played under many GM's that range the spectrum from amazing to truly awful. And the two things I have found that make a decent game is the GM is honestly trying to make it fun, and they do not view the players as adversaries but rather partners in the story telling. If you have that, all the mistakes or misunderstandings in the world won't stop honest players from having fun in your game. :) I imagine you will have plenty of folks to choose from and being in the US I may not be more difficult to work into the time frame. But I would love to be part of this if you feel I could fit.
