My old ‘Dungeon Domains’ tile-set
I doubt anyone here remembers (though please let me know if you do) – but back in the days of D&D 3.0 (so the early 2000’s) I made a set of dungeon tiles using the free software that came with my first ever digital camera (I think the camera itself was maybe 2 megapixels or something like that – so I was quite proud of it at the time).
As you might guess, that then led me to creating a (pretty crude) website – so that I could share these tiles with the wider community (as I don't think YouTube was around back then).
That website (called ‘Crooked Staff Productions’ if you're interested) actually got picked up, and was hosted by the guys at EnWorld for a while… at which point I was feeling pretty proud of myself.
Anyway, that website died many years ago, and I had thought most of the stuff I had put on there lost and forgotten.
However, thanks to the magic of 'the wayback machine’ I’ve been able to track most of it down … and so I thought I would re-format these original (low-res jpeg) images, and compile them into a pdf for easier viewing/printing.
Now, as I say, they’re pretty low resolution images (that’s just how I drew them at the time) - and while they’re not the first digital tiles I ever made (that title goes to a few pixel-art tiles, walls, and doors that I created on an old Amiga when I was a young lad), these were the first tiles that I created on a proper desktop PC (my first PC in fact… which came with a 56k modem and windows 98 if I recall correctly).
So yeah, for now, I’m just gonna share these with my (paid) supporters - though I might make a video about them at a later date if you think a trip down memory lane would be worthwhile?
Anyway, I’m not sure if any of you will actually find a use for these (as they’re kinda their own thing, and not really compatible with anything else) – but like I say, if by any chance, you did use them back in the day, then it would be super cool to hear about it.
Note that I’ve supplied the file in both A4 and US letter size… as they can be a bit awkward to print ;)

When I came to your stuff, I was dusting off old Microtactix stuff (that I bought on DriveThru in like 2004, hence I still have access) - the 'Dirt Cheep' line, if anyone remembers that. I loved the whole 'folded paper' aesthetic, until my cats would lay on it when I walked away... So, this here looks like nostalgia... I mean, I'd build a pixel-art dungeon... Damn, I'm old.
there are some pretty cool rooms and corridors in those sets, and I like some of the details on the doors, It would be neat to see some of the "unique" tiles and doors in a future set with your current more detailed textures. You were definitely ahead of your time when you did those, they are great!
Not only do I remember these tiles, I have them in a .jpg format and have them printed out a long time ago. I have no clue how or where I got them from :-)
Not that they'd be anywhere near the quality of what you revised, but I bet if I searched back over a few old thumb drives I might hve some or even many of those original EN World tiles from our 3.0E days over there.
Those were fun/interesting times :) I don't really check it (EN world I mean) any more - though maybe I should (and see what's happening over there nowadays).
I think a way back episode would be fun. Have a side by side set up with then and now.
