On the workbench
As some of you might know, I'm currently working on some additional detail pieces for the sci-fi buildings - including some steps and connecting tunnels (as shown below)...
...but, to take a bit of a break from that (and because I needed some 'area terrain' for when I start to play 5 Parsecs from home), I've been putting together some junk piles (mostly from existing textures).
Now, I don't know if I'll do a bonus/tips video for these (as there's no real set method) - but there is one new technique I'm trying out that I think is worth mentioning.
But before I get to that, here are a couple of in-progress pics - basically showing how I made the base...
...which isn't too dissimilar to how I did the 'fantasy' rubble piles - so cardboard that's been flattened around the edge (to make a kind of bevel), and then covered in the rubble texture:
Various bits and pieces where then glued on top (the wheels from the truck video where ideal for this)...
...and squashing the barrels, and bending a few metal plates also helped to add to the 'junk' appearance.
Then, for wires, I wrapped some cocktail sticks/toothpicks in textures from the greebles video, and then did my best to snap/bend them (but not so much as to break them entirely) - just to try and make them look less straight.
Now, they don't look like anything special on their own - but I think that when they're added to my new junk piles, they do add an extra layer of detail that kinda helps to finish off the piece.
Anyway, I thought I would share that here, just to show how you can put some of the existing textures to use to make other things, and also to mention this new 'wires' idea :)

Very cool scatter.
Oh my! Since we're going back to Armageddon for the 11th Ed, the new sci-fi stuff will make some pretty cool desert/wasteland outpost for my Salamanders to protect against the Waaaagh!. Thanks again for all this cool ideas and textures. :D
No probs :)
