Plans for December/January

For the past three years, most of my time in December and January has been taken up with the dungeon build along series (designing the dungeon, creating the textures, recording the videos, etc.) - which, as you can imagine, was a ton of work (I really don’t know how other folks manage to get one video out a week on a regular basis – hats off to them).

And, while there’s always a chance that I might do something similar again in the future, I’m going to call the ‘build along’ project done for now… however…

I’d still like to start the new year off with something a bit different to my usual content… and since my last episode (the huts video) was actually my 100th episode… it seems a good time to acknowledge that as well.

So, as you may have gathered (from some of my previous posts), the first video of 2025 is going to be another community challenge :)

The idea itself is pretty much a repeat of the first one… that being:

1) I provide a pdf containing a bunch of (new) random textures

2) Anyone who takes part has a month to make ‘something’ from those textures.

3) I release a video in February featuring pictures of everyone’s builds.

(note that the first challenge video is HERE, and the follow up video showcasing all of the submissions is HERE – just in case you’d like to see how it went last time :) )

And as patrons of the channel – here’s a sneak peek at the textures I’ll be including (well... I might tinker with them slightly – but this is pretty much what will be included):

As before, the rules will be that you can use this ‘challenge’ pdf and ONE other pdf* from my Print & paste range when making your project. So, here’s hoping this sneak peek sparks a few ideas!

Something else I’ve been talking about recently are regular(ish) hobby hangouts over on Discord.

The first of these will be taking place this Saturday at THIS time – and I’m going to try and do one of these on the first Saturday of each month for a little while… and see how they go.

(as I’ve mentioned before – these are not streamed, or recorded, or anything like that – they’re just informal private chats on Discord with patrons / youtube members)

Another thing I’d like to mention is that the Patreon is getting close to finally passing the 100 (paid) patron mark.

For a while now it’s been hovering in the mid 80’s to mid 90’s (as new patrons come, and old ones go)… but it’s got up to 99 twice now in the past month or so (before falling back down again) – but here’s hoping it’ll pass the 100 mark sometime soon – as that will be another milestone reached :)

Anyway, I think I’ve probably rambled on long enough for one post… though I will say that I’m still going to try and squeeze in one more video before the end of the year if I can (even if it’s just a ‘short’ or a tips video) – but since I’m not having to stress over getting a whole bunch of videos done for a new ‘build along’ series in January, I’m looking forward to actually having some time off over the holiday period this year… and maybe play a few more games :)
