Hi everyone! A bit of news for you.

This time, in addition to the usual addition of new scenes, we decided to try something new and add more languages to our game. Some of you have been asking for this for a long time.

In the latest update (v.0.76), we’ve added support for two new languages — Spanish and Russian. Why did we choose exactly these two to start with? At first I had no idea how to pick, so I decided to ask an AI and gave it the task of making a top list of languages to add to an adult game based on these criteria: maximum number of native speakers, an audience that’s open to erotic content, and free access to the global internet. The AI immediately suggested excluding Chinese because of internet restrictions and languages from Muslim countries because of their generally negative attitude toward erotic content. In the end, based on all the factors, it ranked the languages like this: Japanese, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, German, French. Starting with Japanese for the very first time seemed too complicated to me, so I took the next two in order. I think in the future we might add more from this list, but I can’t promise it will happen quickly.

Both translations were done with the help of an AI. That let me handle everything myself without knowing the languages. The translation isn’t perfect, but I made sure the context was preserved and double-checked some parts of it by translating back to English. In my opinion, the quality is pretty high — definitely the best we could give you right now.

Originally I thought this would take way more time, but it turned out to require as much work as several full releases combined. First I had to learn how to add translations at all. Then it turned out my original game code wasn’t in the right format, so I had to fix a thousand tiny things just to make translations possible. The biggest headache was the system that assembles some sentences from values stored in different variables — because of grammar differences between languages, it would have looked terrible in translation, so I had to rewrite a lot of the original text.

Then came the actual work with the text. Even though it was mostly “copy/paste” and the AI did the translating, it was still a massive amount of text. I’d forgotten just how much text the game actually contains, and at times it felt like the work would never end. But in the end, it looks like we managed to get everything done properly.

Bug hunting also took several days, surprisingly. Plus I discovered that I had formatted some parts of the translation incorrectly and had to redo them from scratch. Overall, it turned into a real epic task that dragged on for quite a while.

But we made it.

Just so you know, the translation only covers the text part for now — the drawn buttons haven’t been translated yet. We’ll fix that a little later.

Also, because words in different languages have different lengths, some interface text has shifted around and looks a bit off. It’s not critical; I’ll tidy it up later. Right now, fixing those thousand little details would have taken a few more days, and I really wanted to get at least something out since it’s already been a long time.

In the future we won’t stop developing new scenes just to add translations anymore. Instead, we’ll prepare new translations in parallel with new content, because now I have a much clearer idea of how long it actually takes.

This time things didn’t go exactly as I planned, but we learned a huge amount, which will let us work much more efficiently going forward.
