Jan 9 Dev Log: Details of v010’s Changes to 32 Scenes

Another day, more updates. Every single sprite and render has to be re-inserted in code, so I’m still working through the scenes.

When every scene has changes, I’d almost call v0.10 a “re-master”. But that suggests the game you know has been changed beyond recognition, which is not the case.

However, since the changelog simply says “34 scenes have been updated”, I’d like to provide more detail on what that means:

• Emma’s post-soccer scenes split into drunken version vs sober version.

• The intro dream sequence has been moved to Benji’s introduction, where you can see it after smoking his weed.

• A new intro has replaced it, which will allow for a satisfying end to Act I.

• Lily’s subplot more tightly refocused on her viral social media ambitions.

• Abbie’s subplot more tightly refocused on becoming rebellious.

• Jasmine’s subplot more tightly focused on her possession of the stolen necklace.

Further, I gave more romantic weight to the vanilla scenes:

• Tara’s pool scene

• Lily’s singing on rooftop scene

• Abbie’s backyard dancing

• Abbie’s kitchen cooking

And, additionally:

• Oona now has a cutscene to prepare for her Act II arrival.

• Her Mom—a cop—also has a couple scenes to prepare her for her Act II arrival.

To make the girls feel like real people, and to tie them into the game’s story tighter, the following emotional flashbacks have been inserted:

• Abbie’s flashback of abandonment

• Ace’s flashback of cruelty by Emma towards him

• Jasmine and the Malik’s family escape from their home country.

Since the soccer competition between Emma and Ace was such a hot mess, I’ve converted it into a cinematic video to make it both more dramatic, as well as easier to understand.
