271 - Any Ideas?
Hello, bros. Welcome to another Monday Post. The month of April has started. April is a special month for me because it reminds me of April O'Neil, our favorite yellow jumpsuit wearing slut-- I mean, news reporter. (Also my birthday is in April, but whatever XD )
The work. Last week was a good one. Productive one. Majority of the time was spent polishing up Vivi and Megara's storylines. Basically a lot of busy work with little to show for it.
The Plan. The current work plan looks like this. Finish up polishing and tweaking the routs of the following characters:
- Lean Lilly
- Esmeralda
- Iris
- Atamansha
Basically I will be in the grinding mode for some time. On one hand it could get a bit tedious, because what I will be doing is mostly arranging and tweaking things. But on the other hand it will be also exciting for me because things will be taking shape more and more.
The Question. Here is the thing though. Personally I am very excited for the Queen Trainer, but I realize that it is only because I know what kind of game it is and how much content is there to be discovered by the player (when it's released). But you guys for the most part have no choice but to sort of believe me when I say "it's gonna be good", and that it. So I've been thinking what ways could be there to share some sort of content to get you hyped a bit.
Ideas. I thought about putting together a trailer, but that would take too much time. (Financially I am doing OK for now, but hiring people to do this is still out of question). After that I thought about releasing a few character posters, with background information and such. But even that would take effort if I want it to be done well. Even that little Vivi introduction you can see above took way longer than I am comfortable with spending on this sort of stuff.
Any Ideas? Do you have any ideas? What kind of stuff I could release to generate a bit of an interest in your eyes for the game. (Demo is out of question at least for now).

Demo maybe not but why not record yourself playing snipits of the game. Use what you already have. If your trying to get a trailer that is. But to be honest, from the very beginning, you have always put out great content. So even if you can't show us before release, you can rest assured that everyone here is just as excited to see this game as you are.

Hey, when exactly is your birthday? Also, about the hype. I think your reputation is good enough that looking at your track record, we are getting a good fucking game. The amount of details you share right now is fine for me and I wouldn't change anything. I don't want to have much of the game spoiled, I love discovering little secrets and jokes that are outside of the main story. But if you want I can think of some way for hype. I can for my own part say that I have no issues believing when you say "it's gonna be good!" :) no extra stuff needed, we just eagerly await the final product!

If you want ideas for advertising the new game I guess putting a demo of the game on Newgrounds could be an option. However it needs to have something «complete» to it so people will like it. Imo Newgrounds rates a bit impatiently, people wanna get to the lewds.
You misunderstood me. I would be happy for more fans, but what I meant is some material for people who already support me. Some lore or something I don't know. Unfortunately there are no miracles and all good things will require extra work. -_-
I really like the character poster idea. It would be cool to have a few of them. But to be honest, your previous works are enough of a resume for this game and your judgement.

Release the incomplete game to a handful of picked volunteers with the expectation that in addition to the regular alpha-tester feedback, they'll generate some posters, memes etc. That way you don't lose too much time, and still get some amount of hype value.
Releasing incomplete game sounds like an absolute horrible idea. I get where you are coming from, but there is only one chance I have for first impression, I don't want to mess it up.

Of course. The game will drop in two weeks. There you have it. Or maybe in two years. You are very welcome :) I understand the thirst for at least some form of certainty, but I never give any release dates and there is a reason for that, it's impossible to say something definite unless the game is 100% finished and tested and I am just sitting on it.

Looking back, the episode-wise release of SC34 was really awesome. Something similar would have been great for QT, but I guess it's too late now to move into a similar release mode. So we're just waiting patiently for the big bang... which is perfectly fine. The excitement will be even bigger when it finally drops! I dig the occasional educational WIP CGs etc. as long as there is still be enough to discover once the game is here. Any art sweetens the waiting time. Could even be outside QT, if you feel like taking a day off from QT. For instance, some family friendly draft of April to honor your birthday month would be awesome ;) Other mentioned ideas are also interesting. Whatever feels right to you!
Yes, episodic release should be planned ahead. Plus it worked great for SC34 because it was basically a visual novel. Queen Trainer will be more like Princess Trainer so I can't see how I could do it episodically. Some sort of big update with extra characters or endings could be possible I guess, but other then that the game must be released as a whole to. There is only one chance for the first impression.
Can confirm that the hype is there, I enjoy the bonus posts you do that show off early sketches/concepts, even small snippets of dialogue are enough to excite. Can’t wait to explore the routes and stories and am very excited for more Iris! 💪

I'm happy with the work so far revealed myself. If you feel you must, a few shots of the backgrounds you're working on or the like is cool with me, but I've seen enough of your games in the past to be quite content to wait for release!

To be honest that is already what I do. It's just I sometimes work on writing or coding for long periods of time and have no new art to show off. But since you guys trust in me I guess it's not that important :)

Remember how HiFi Rush dropped out of nowhere and became an instant classic? Part of why that happened is because it was a joy to discover everything about it without a year of trailers spoiling everything for us. Maybe a harem list like Newman suggested but otherwise, I already know I'm gonna enjoy QT without any further information
Agreed. The difference is HiFi Rush is a paid game, I mean they make by selling it. The way it works here is that I make money while I am working and after that release the game for free. The difference is I need to do at least minimal effort to show people what I am working of. That is why so many other guys do (often pointless) frequent updates and release games while they are still in development. I think I am one of the very few who prefers to release a finished product instead. I would gladly work in complete silence to surprise you guys afterwards, but I need to eat... Selling my games would fix this, but then I would have my creative freedom limited drastically... -_- Anyway, I hear you, and that's probably exactly how things will be. Don't worry I spoil only absolutely minor things. There will be plenty of surprises hidden :)
As far as I'm concerned the regular updates you've been giving us are all I need to keep myself hyped up.

Why not organize a championship with all the protagonists of the new game? Each week there would be a short presentation of two participants (a bit like today with Vivi) followed by a vote during one week to elect the winner. Then we move to two new girls. And so on, until the semi-finals and the final are organized. The winning girl would be the subject of a poster that would, let's say, allow people to discover her better... or else give her a particular optional outfit in the game that would reflect her winning status during the pre-release Anyway, I'm already really hyped by the game... I can't wait to meet Jasmine again and to meet Vivi!!! Thanks for the post, every time it's really positive vibes to start the week.

I'd suggest an image with the full character roster, Genie in the middle. That doesn't take much out of your time, and really, what we all want is to see what our next harem is going to look like! XD
I like the idea of a group shot. But feel free to (?) one or two of the new characters' faces.
Just put the picture of all the girl standing behind Genie with a caption like "I'm back, more girls, new adventure, more fun"

We are still here, waiting for the game, and waiting for every news from master akabur. So we are curious of every bit of information about it we can get . :-) For the ideas: How about just some WIP-images or some prework-sketches, that show what we can expect, without revealing to much of the story. You already have them, so there is no effort to create them. To see how an image is born and developing is always exciting (at least for me). Maybe you have some things that you created, but decided for whatever reason, not to include in the game (deleted scenes, if you like) . So they can get a little attention, and not all of the work was in vain. We keep waiting for that miracle day, when SOON(TM) finally arrives. Keep up the amazing work!
WIP stuff I am already doing. Usually I try to share as much as possible. It's just when I start working on the text or the coding I often don't have any new flashy stuff to show for several weeks. So yeah, I get what you are saying. Basely to just keep doing what I do already and don't worry too much, right? ^_^ Thank you for the support, man.

I think you misunderstood my question. I was wondering what I could do outside of the game. As for the in-game content, don't worry, there will be plenty of various things and scenes. I just don't like to discuss every single detail I put into the game, it get's tedious quick :)
I kind of agree with Ace above. The hype is there, for sure. The short videos of inking drawings are enough to know there will be a full experience when the development is done. I kind of like the idea of the posters - shouldn't there be a few talented guys on the discord server who could do the work for you?
Yeah, I thought about commissioning somebody but right now the budget is tight. And when people work "for an idea" instead of a money they usually loose motivation quick.
First, for you it's whatever, but for us Akabur's birthday is a holiday, so don't underestimate the date. Now I have two possible ideas, use the one you like best: - Videos, show us some of the amazing content that si waiting for us, nothing elaborated some short videos, maybe with some epic music showing things that make us drool. - A demo could be good, but that take time, time you may use to play or advance the game, but si also an option But the hype is real, no worry seeing you so excited is contagious
