223 - Monday Surprise 28
Thank you for supporting me with your hard-earned coins, dear bros. Let me give you more details on the development process on the game. ^^
Remember how Prince Trainer had a day and night cycle? And remember how I took it a bit further with Witch Trainer by introducing weather elements behind the window? Well, Queen Trainer will have all that and more.
Please don't freak out, it sounds more complicated then it is, but it will be worth it, trust me. I've been working on this system for a while now, but wasn't sure if I should talk about it or not before I test it. Well, now I did test it. It is in the game and it works marvelously.
So, this week was spent on designing the main HUD and the in-game calendar. The HUD will contain info on the current season, weather, day of the week and day of the month (season). As for the calendar, it will consist of 4 months: Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer. I don't want to bore you with to many details but the flow of time will affect a lot of stuff in the world starting with the NPC's dialog and ending with the festivals you could take part in or ignore.
I did a lot of planning for this and could talk about it for hours. But I won't :) All in all I am really excited to finally have a proper time system in one of my games. Before I lacked experience to implement something like this properly, but this time I feel like I can do it.
Also every NPC in the game will have a set birthday. If you decide to talk with them on that day you will get a little cutscene. ^^
There is a lot more I want to share, but I think I better do it next week. Thank you for your support guys. Queen Trainer is going to be pretty great, and in big part it is thanks to the level of interest and support you keep showing for this project :)
Here is a list of things that has been done during the week.
Main background variations (both night and day)
- Autumn sunny. Autumn Clouds.
- Winter Sunny. Winter Clouds. Winter Snow.
- Spring Sunny. Spring Clouds.
- Summer Sunny. Summer Clouds.
Weather done:
- Rain.
- Heavy rain with thunder.
Weather yet to do:
- Snow.
- Sand Storm.
Also created a 4 season in-game calendar with markings for character's birthdays and festivals.
And I will just leave it at that for now. If some of the explanations sound confusing just leave it at that for now. I am not always good at explaining the things I am working on. Just trust me to do my thing as usual, and I won't disappoint you. Promise.

Looks great to me. Will we still have unlimited time?
Yes. The game will have a proper end and the ending credits will be shown, but after that you will be dropped back into the world and be able to keep playing at your own leisure. I also want to implement an option to buy an artifact that would let you undo the ending and persuade another route without having to start from the beginning.
Prince Trainer??? is that a typo or was there a secret male version i missed out on?

Best Monday surprise in a long time! I love the idea of keeping track of seasons and birthdays. The game-aspect of the game is just as important as any H stuff. Well planned, Akaman!

Sounds good. But the idea of snow in Agrabah rather surprised me.
I know. It doesn't fit that well. Main weather condition for the winter will be send storms. There will be a very little chance snowing.
