SC34 Episode 03. It's here. Hurray! I just sent the download link to all my PROCESSED (successfully donated at least $1) patrons. If somebody didn't get the link PM me.
About Episode 03. I wrote it, I put it together and played though it at least four times now so it should work smoothly for most of you. But as usual, if you encounter bugs or typos or things that you think are not working properly - let me know in the comments or by contacting me directly at: akaburfake2@yahoo.com
Some more About Episode 03. Like I said a couple dozen times already I am trying to change things up a bit, so don't be put off by some minor changes you will notice. And don't worry about this episode being a bit on the short side. It was done on purpose to make it possible for frequent updates. I am already about half-way done with the writing for Episode 04, so next episode should be the first one in the line of frequent (but finished and not alpha builds) updates. Also as always you can use your old save, or just start directly from episode 03.
Public Release When? If all goes well it should happen next Monday. It will include Win, Mac and (FREAKING) Linux version of the game and fixes for whatever bugs get reported during this week. Andorid version should be out the week after.
This week's PSD. This week's PSD file is another PT classic, known to me as "36_dance.psd". You'll find it in the attachments of the patron's only post. It's in high resolution and it contains all the layers as usual. Or, and if you find any use for this drawings I am posting feel free to "appropriate" them. (But for the love of God please don't put them into another weird mod of one of my games.)
Work Materials. So, great guy by the name of MUPLUR gave me an idea: not to stop with just PSDs but also share my old scans and other work materials. Naturally a lot of those things are NSFW so I imagine I will have to put a lot of them behind the patrons-only lock unfortunately. But you have my full permission to grab those and use or share them any way you like :)
Today's scan. So today I am sharing the scans of that "Maslab finds his daughter in the Red Phoenix" CG. I hope it will kick you in the nostalgia a bit. Sure did kick me. Can't believe it's been that long since I drew this...

!!!IMPORTANT!!! EPISODE 03 SIGNIFICANT BUG HAS BEEN REPORTED: New girl's stress level is not displayed properly in the crew list and never goes down. I will fix this in the public releasable. Avoid sending her to work to in order to not get stuck with the story.

looks like ash renegged on the 15 eco deal. the agreement was to roll with whatever jasmin wanted shy of feces. she stormed out before it got to that point, and didn't seem to return the eco. genie didn't go after her for the eco back, which granted went a bit further than intended, but she still broke the agreement and genie needed to demand them back or else look like she could walk all over him. i would be fine with some sort of haggling in which she keeps the eco, but genie shouldn't let discipline get lax like that.

Hey Akabur, just wanted to let ya know that some people are having trouble getting their September payments for their pledges to be accepted. I've tried a few different ways to pay, but none seem to be going through. Looking on the Patreon Subreddit ( <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/patreon/comments/9cbh3x/anyone_else_having_issues_with_paypal_for_this/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.reddit.com/r/patreon/comments/9cbh3x/anyone_else_having_issues_with_paypal_for_this/</a> ) and there are others. So if you see a drop in your Patreons or something initially this month, I wanted to make you aware. I'll keep trying to push my pledge through for ya! But there are problems on Patreon's end right now regarding payments :P

I just noticed that once you master "Confronting Jafar" stage one, if you scroll back after watching the scene you and click on it again you get an bonus scene. as well as 'Confronting Jafar' stuck on the screen until you play another. Is this the only good bug...er bonus that is available?

I really love the character you have for jasmine. She is both a spoiled bitch, and cutely pouty/jealous. I'm really dissapointed that this update had so little writing though... I've read so many updates from you the last few months that I got pretty hyped.

A bit short but nice. But there seem to be some bugs with Hermione\April stress. Sometimes April stress won't go down during a rest day, sometimes it will transfer completely to Hermione. Wasn't able to get the full pattern. Also at least once I assigned April to dance, but instead Hermione was dancing.
I know it's short. But you will see exactly why is that soon*. Already fixed April's stress bug, won't be present in public release.

Hey dude. Your russian comrade here. Sorry for my English skills in advance. Everything you do is great, and I enjoy every piece of art you make. But besides art you make a lot of work while creating a game, polish every small detail, to make it exactly how you imagine it. And that's how masterpieces are made. But it's clearly seen, that mostly you're famous for your art style, which I personally consider as one of the best in cartoon genre. And I really miss old times, when you've been doing comics. It took you less time, and there were a lot more art to admire. So here's idea for ya: more art (like in PT), and less text ;) Anyway, keep up a good work!
Hello, comrade :) I hear ya. But that won't work. That kind of approach would mean longer development times and shorter gameplay times. But non the less, I do plan to add more art into the game as we continue with this.

Great episode, thanks Akabur! Man, that CG with Ashelin was EXACTLY what I had hoped for. Whew! I just wish it had been a bit longer, you know, more text and leading up to the finale? But I'm super happy. I played through episodes 1-3 yesterday night instead of writing my paper, and I'm once again wowed by how entertaining the whole package is, especially the comedic timing. Looking forward to episode 4.

I liked the continuation to the Ashelin-pig scene, the first fullscreen CGI and EP04 preview. It's nice to have April now, confrontation with Lola is interesting. But isn't April too much of a pervert at the beginning ? Should not she be more resistant ? Great work, as always. ♥
Yeah, I hear you about April, but I am getting bored of every girl following the same scenario, so I try to give them different personality traits. April is not perverted, more like cheerful and open-minded. Getting her to strip dance won't be easy, I promise.
SC34 is masterpiece. The quality of the game has improved, however, I think the volume is sad...

I finally got April and more Ashelyn content! You wanted bug reports so the biggest one i've noticed so far is that when girls are returning from work/events many times game shows incorrect girl returning. Also there is HAVEN/HEAVEN typo in Ashelyn briefing. Other than that it's pretty cool update and i lol'd hard (pun intended) few times. Great work!

Well, shit. How long do we need to wait for the public/bugfix version? Any chance patrons can get the bugfixed a little bit earlier? Long weekend coming up in the States, perfect time for playing games.....
Well, I could redistribute the version with current fix, but it would be such a hustle, and ultimately a waste of time. There are NO game-breaking bugs in the game, so you can play it without any worry.

Yes, like I said, I am trying to figure out a way to make frequent updates. This one was a bit light on content but it took me way less time to develop (you can't see it because I worked on Mating Season in-between). All and all, I am really trying, let's just hope I will be able to do it and next update will be the first one in the succession of frequent episodes.
This is one of the most disappointing updates I've ever seen, not only is there almost no content for a supposed "episode," the whole game itself has almost nothing for a game that's been in development for 3 years. How is it that you've got progressively worse, and less motivated since you started as a developer?
It's no secret that Akabur releases slowly, but I find I am a lot more tolerant of it with him than I would be of other developers for these reasons: - He only asks for a buck. If I get two releases a year and only pay $12, I feel like I am getting my money's worth. - His releases, generally speaking, have far fewer bugs than almost any other game dev I follow. I personally hate bugs, so this is a big deal to me. - I consider the writing and art to be high quality.
Hey Akabur! It's looking great. Thanks so much! I will say a couple things I found that were bugs or not the best way to implement the UI... It seems like when you activate April she breaks Hermione's Stress Level. They seem to suddenly share it/swap it/never get reset from rest after April is active. Like there's a value that's floating between them that's shared. It's weird. Also, Ashelin's new show, the 'HD' part of episode 2 appends the dialogue from Jasmine's new show (episode 1) on the end of it. That's not supposed to happen. Is there any way you could do a sanity check when you send Jasmine/Ash on mission/episode and if the save has the 1/10 system update it to a simpler binary one and done thing? IDK how much work that would take... Other thing is that you don't need an Event button and an Event Log button. Just have an event button and at the bottom of the list have a choice that opens up the list of previous events just before the exit button. It would clean up the UI a lot and make things a lot clearer!

Minor issue reports: Lola's raver outfit doesn't have A or B settings, her hair does though. Ashelin's new missions (through quest) also say it's Jasmine returning from the mission. Mission two is one page when it is redone, same for Jasmine, text on chat doesn't seem to line up correctly as well. After running through some of the quests I noticed Hermoine also loses her ability to lower stress through the main character page but it shows correct stress levels when doing live shows and on personal charcter page; it has something to do with new girl and her stress levels not dropping. Ashelin's new hair missing "B". Hermoine's lessons "by the by" = "by the way".

Considering how long it's been since the release of the very first episode your nostalgia is absolutely justified. Also I am and old dude, so I imagine my references, jokes, and art will be kicking you into the nostalgia bone even more with every passing year^^

I'm having an issue with the display. When the game boots, the big black AKABUR screen is not scaled correctly and is off center. Then when I get to the menu screen, it looks fine but the mouse mapping is off and I can't click any buttons. If I go to preferences almost the entire menu is hidden in the top left off screen. In the past I have had minor issue with scaling because I run at 150% scaling normally. But it was always as simple as going back to 100% scaling when playing the game. Now, either way I'm getting issues.
Well, I wish I could say: please contact our tech support at TEL: 123-AKABUR-3211. But all I can say is that there is some kind of conflict between Ren'Py and you video card settings. Try fiddling with those. I had a problem with one of old japanese visual novel where it would never go into fullscreen, making some changes in my video card settings helped.
Superb work so far, AKABUR! My personal favourite? The "superb coding" thing on the LOLA quest ..

Also, I believe that comments for Jasmine's "Whole new world" EP1 are actually comments from one of the "Confronting Jafar" episodes, cause some "bird" is mentioned and there is none on the screen. EDIT: Same thing with "Inspiring the troops", also the "bird" comments.

Seems like you're really going to try to push for much more frequent updates, which supports what you've told us already (: Also, the longer scene in this episode was awesome! You've written the characters so well so far and had me engaged the whole time. I really hope you are able to start cranking updates out. I don't know if my heart can take months and months again after this :P You've really created a masterpiece with a fantastic foundation to build upon. Awesome! Thanks Akabur. Also a (Potential bug report). Since I've not played SC34 since the last release, there might some feature that I'm forgetting. But currently, none of the girls are gaining Mastery in the episodes/shows (unless they had (X/10) in the save I continued from. Tried doing 10+ episodes/shows (thinking it might just be a visual bug) but nope.
Mastery has been long abolished. Only the only episodes still have it shown since that's how they were at the beginning. In other words, that's not a bug :)

Been having this problem with your games for awhile (both Episode 2 and PT Golden have this as well), but EP 3 won't full screen correctly. Most of the screen gets cut off. In window form it also cuts off the very top (which is mostly just annoying for going through save pages) and bottom and makes the mouse click higher than it's placement.
Usually it's your video card setting. Trying fiddling with those.

Fuck yeah!! I'm excited to play it!! :D Firstly, one glitch I've encountered so far: the screen of the game is a bit cut-off at the bottom. I loaded up my old SC34 to double check. You can quickly notice it on "The Broadcasting Studio". I haven't really dived in yet though, Going to play it out in a few. Thank you for all your hard work once again!! Is an amazing surprise :D :D Edit: The screen cut-off is overall and everywhere, not just the Studio :P Thought I'd clarify :P
