455 - Ranting Time!
HELLO, and welcome to another Monday Post. That's right, it's Monday again, which means it's time for me to spend several hours putting together a post where I rant about things nobody cares about, only to have it read by a select few of the truest and most loyal bros who actually give a damn! Let's do this! ^^
A WIP THAT SURVIVED. I updated last week's shop item with a WIP file I found on my HDD purely by accident earlier today. I was sure that none of the extra files had survived for this drawing, but apparently, one random file did. ^^
SHOP. This week's Shop/Gallery item is another old TMNT illustration of mine, featuring a peculiar situation involving Irma. Very much in line with my current workload for Reporter Trainer, where I'm mostly focusing on Irma's personal training events at the moment. Anyway, this is an old piece, so I doubt you haven't seen it before, but I can promise you that you've never seen it in such high resolution. Go check it out! :)
YAHOO! The downfall of Yahoo Mail continues. I haven't done any research, but I'd assume they put someone new in charge last year or something, because all that's been happening since then is the continued degradation of everything, starting with the UI and ending with actual features getting cut. Now I've received a weird email saying that I need to start paying for my inbox or they'll start showing me ads. This is bullshit. My account is over 20 years old. The least they could do is spare the old guard like me from this bullshit. Also, I love how the email is in Spanish, even though all our communication has been in English up to this point. Whatever. All things must come to an end. I've already gone through denial and bargaining... acceptance is just around the corner. -_-
FA: FORTUNE'S WEAVE. The new Fire Emblem has a completely misleading advertising campaign that made me believe you wouldn't be allowed to play as an "avatar" and would instead be forced to choose one of the preset characters: a chick, a dude, or a little boy. Apparently, that wasn't the case, and finding that out made me interested in the game again. But after doing a bit of research, I found out that the devs apparently toned down all the S-supports and romance stuff, so I lost interest in it again. Well, it's for the better, since I don't plan on getting a Switch 2 anyway. ^^
FE: AWAKENING. Getting disappointed for the second time by the latest FE game got me in the mood, though. At first, I thought about doing another Three Houses playthrough, but I really hate how underwhelming the romance endings were in that game. All you got was a poorly drawn CG and a bit of text. I love the ability to romance literally any girl in the story in that game though, and according to ChatGPT, only three games in the series allow you to do that: Three Houses, Awakening, and Fates. Well, time to get back to playing Awakening, I guess. In Japanese, of course, since this game has a notoriously bad translation. ^^
AI SLOP. Here is this week's AI slop. The file is attached to this post if you're interested. It contains a few more pics of Avy. I know it has little to do with the game, since the style is completely different here, but that's what makes it interesting to me. I really like how MrLazare managed to get ChatGPT to make her look very close to my original design while still making her photorealistic. ^^
HATING THIS! A few days ago, I sat down to work, only to find out that my laptop had decided to install a Windows update without asking for my approval. As a result, I wasted about 30 minutes of my workday on this bullshit. I turned off automatic updates a long time ago, so this was the first time I had to experience this crap. Why now, though? Did Microsoft decide to disregard my user preferences? I wouldn't be surprised. This reminded me of how, last year, I was seriously considering switching to Linux. -_-
THE WORK. I continue to work on Irma's events, and that's all I have to say. I know it doesn't sound very exciting, but it is what it is. Just another week has gone by at the workshop. This week will be more of the same, I'm afraid. Thank you for your patience and support. I'll see you all next week. Laterz. ^^

how do I go about reporting a bug ??
There is a channel on discord, or you can just write about it here. (Better do it in the comments for the latest Monday post so that I don't miss it.)
Finally, some lifesigns... It were almost disturbing to see him this down all the mondays... It had me worried, if u need to see a doc ...😁
He-he. I appreciate you worrying about my well-being, brother. ^^
The unwanted "updates" is the reason I always yarr my Windows ☠
I think humanity as a whole shares this sentiment. Unwanted updates are extremely annoying.
Thanks for sharing Avy AI pic! It was fun to do even if it's as not the heart and the soul from your art and drawings. I also tried Fortune’s Weave, but what pushed me away was the gameplay itself. There were just too many systems and mechanics competing for my attention. I think I simply wanted a more straightforward tactical FE. Somehow that sent me back to the old Telltale games instead (I’m replaying Batman now) 😅 Also, that Reporter Trainer screenshot has me curious: “FREE TIME: 1 POINT,” with a bonding option or “TAKE A NAP.” Does one Free Time point basically let us choose one optional activity between story events? Have a great week!
The first episode of Telltale's Batman is absolutely fantastic. I have very fond memories of it. As for Fire Emblem, did you try Three Houses? It has a lot of mechanics, but they clicked with me easily enough back in the day. You can just choose the easiest difficulty and enjoy being a teacher at a military academy, romancing both the students and the teachers. ^^ About free points. I basically want to use the "free time point" system that some games use (Stella Glow, for example). You actually described it perfectly: "one optional activity between story events." The idea is that every day, you'll have only one point to spend on bonding with the characters of your choice. During your first playthrough, you won't have enough points to "romance everyone," so you'll have to choose who you like best. During NEW GAME+, you'll get extra points, allowing you to romance more people and experiment with different endings. That's the plan, anyway. I won't know whether this works well or not until the game is almost finished and I can actually see how these mechanics perform in action. Unlike story content and art, this is something I can adjust easily, so I'm not too worried about it for now. I could even make changes after the beta release if you guys play it and say that the system sucks or something.
I like the current version of the Yahoo Mail UI. In the early days of the new UI it was kind of annoying, but it is as goods as Gamil.. so years ahead of Outlook. I stuck on Win10 and also thinking about switching to Linux. Faster updates without restarts, using Geforce and Tesla GPUs at the same time without driver issues, using grouk-build and docker without switching to wsl first. Only a few games stop me from switching.
Well, I use a Steam Deck for gaming and NEVER play games on my PC, since I use it for work, and as soon as the work is done, I want to get as far away from it as humanly possible. I do use Photoshop for work, though, and if I switch to Linux, I may have to get used to a new graphics editor. Other than that, I see no downside to switching to Linux. ^^
Been going back to Azure Dreams myself. Rewarding if frustrating game!
I have Azure Dreams all set up and ready on my rg35xxsp for a very long time now. Keep thinking that one day I will finally give it a try. One day...
Just wait, the emulators for switch 2 are coming out. Mr. Lazare does some fine work, I accept it. As for windows, they have been ignoring setting for a long time. They extended the support another year to give people with non 11 compatible units a chance to upgrade their devices and the rest time to upgrade to 11. I for one will go to steam OS even if I have to pay someone to do it before using another windows OS.
Yes, if (when) push comes to shove I will be doing something similar. Probably will just purchase a laptop with an OS and install some kind of Linix OS on it. When I researched it last year it seemed a bit tricky but doable. Having Steam OS on it would be cool since I already used to it because of Stream Deck.
If you get too tired of windows consider installing linux. I have gotten a second harddisk where I have linux mint. I then choose system at boot. It was very easy to install, and I have a third disc that both systems have access to in order to move files over if needed.
Yeah, last year, at one point, I got pretty serious about getting a Linux PC. Then some IRL stuff got in my way, and here I am, still on WINDOWS. But sooner or later, I do plan on making the switch.
I've been so out of the loop regarding Fire Emblem that I didn't realize there was a new one.
Fantastic, you learned some gaming news from my Monday Post! :)
A shame about Yahoo, but hey, there's some good keep the good job
Thanks. You too, man. Stay safe.
I read this while at work. Thanks to you, I staved off boredom for 3 minutes! I like that AI image. She's hot.
Thanks!
Finally get to see akabur ranting again ^_^ (feels like finding water in the desert lol). Anyway, as usual, akabur rules! ꉂꉂ(ᵔᗜᵔ*)
Ha-ha. Stop encouraging me please XD
