452 - Finally drawing something!
HELLO and welcome to another Monday post by your spiritual leader, the one, the only, the omnipotent, the all-knowing, the all-powerful, the Game Boy Advance aficionado, the PS2 connoisseur, the UMD-disk whisperer, the pixel prophet, the handheld gaming messiah! THE ONE... THE ONLY... AKABUR!!!
THE SHOP. First things first: go check out the latest item in the gallery. This week I dug up something interesting. This is a Magic Shop scene, but I kind of forgot it even existed until I found the PSD for it while going through my old files yesterday. :)
RAY GUNN. Are you hyped for this new Netflix animated movie? I think I may be. Which is super weird, since I don't remember when was the last time I was hyped for a CGI cartoon, let alone one made by Netflix. But it is what it is. After watching the trailer, I was like: "What the hell? It actually looks interesting." 0_0
LAST LUMINARY. I just wishlisted this indie game on Steam. Apparently, it is being developed by just one guy, and he sometimes makes these cute little posts on Twitter saying things like: "You can get married in my game because I say so," or "You can cuddle in my JRPG because I say so." It bothers me that he calls it a "JRPG," because I am one of those weirdos who believes the more technically correct term would be something like "JRPG-inspired." But whatever. He got my curiosity with the wedding feature, but now he really has my attention with the cuddling!
THE WORK. Last week I finally got an opportunity to draw something. It's been a while. It really felt good to be drawing again instead of doing that tedious writing-and-coding crap I've been doing non-stop for several weeks now. This is for Irma's bonding events. I'll be sharing a few more sneak peeks in the EXTRA!! post, so make sure to check it out as well.
AND THAT IS ALL. A short Monday post this week, but at least I had an opportunity to do an EXTRA!! post and show off at least something. It sure has been a while. Well, anyway, thank you for your support, and I will see you all next Monday! Laterz!

He mom must not of taught her to swallow. I looked up that game on steam, it reminded of some of the old shining force and Legend of Dragoon games. Now I need to replay those.
I am really happy to see that you understand how I feel, because obviously you are a cultured gentleman just like me. Also, you should definitely go play those old games. There is nothing like booting up an old game and forgetting what year it is, even if only for a few minutes.
Man the good old days of magic shop, to this day the Lara Dungeon is still my favourite part. Do you think you'll ever try anything like that again aka?
With Magic Shop I was basically throwing all my ideas into that game without too much planning. Let me remind you that both Princess Trainer and Magic Shop originally were supposed to be just Magic Shop combinations. I was really stretching my muscles back then, thinking: could I do that? Could I do this? How about a small maze exploration game? It was really fun time, but I was still partially dependent on my parents back then so money wasn't always the main concern. Now I am an adult and have to take things more seriously. That's the grown up life for you: everything a bit less fun ^_^
Sometimes I wish you release the game just with pencil drawings.. I will melt away in happiness

I am very ashamed to admit it, but I actually didn't play Magic Shop until right now. Such a bizzare feeling, like playing a prequel to a big beloved franchise - seeing Genie being actually blue. Just "Genie: Origin". And seeing absolutely amazing Agrabah streets background makes me kinda sad that Akabur doesn't do those handdrawn line-art VN-style backgrounds anymore... In SC34 backgrounds were in different non-Akabur style, Queen Trainer had isometric environments mostly (which were still amazing)... Anyway, what a gem, Idk why I was ignoring it till now
I'm glad you liked that background. It took me a while. I wish I could still do silly stuff like that: waste my time on a super detailed background simply because I enjoy it and not worry about the deadlines. -_- It is what it is, sacrifices needed to be made. T_T Oh, and thank you for finally playing Magic Shop. Make sure to uncover the jasmine dreaming scene with Rajah :)
Glad you're back to the fun part of the work lol. Isn't it nice when devs are like 'This is MY game, so I'm making things I like!'?
