396 - To Steam Or Not To Steam?
HELLO there, dear bros! How’s it going? I hope you’re doing alright. Over the week I heard that the new Metal Gear Solid remaster is getting censored, along with another Trails in the Sky remaster. To tell you the truth, I don’t even remember the last time a game got remastered without the news being followed by some content getting cut. Thinking about this sort of stuff really gets me down sometimes—but then I remember that I don’t even own any modern game consoles anymore, and I feel much better. XD
SHOP. I did it! I uploaded The Market MEGAPACK to the shop! I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now. All the comic pages files, plus all the WIPs and extra stuff, have been neatly organized for your viewing pleasure. Go check it out!
GAMES! I am actually playing multiple games at the moment: GTA:LCS (PSP), MGS: PEACEWALKER (PSP) and Ar Tonelico (PS2). Having a blast with all three of them at once! This is a retro games harem! XD
STEAM. I’m considering putting a test game on Steam. I don’t want to get too invested in this idea—just want to test the waters. For that purpose, I decided to repack a Sim-Room story from SC34 into its own game. It’s called Princess Quest—a short parody story with 3 endings. Do you remember playing this one?
PQ GOLD EDITION! I’m not just ripping it out of SC34 and calling it a day—I’m updating backgrounds and even rewriting a small scene that originally involved Hermione. In the original game, this scene didn’t have a character sprite for Hermione because I didn’t have time to draw a fantasy barmaid outfit for her (some of you lamented that fact back in the day). So I decided to use this opportunity to give the Hermione scene proper art assets.
THAT BEING SAID. While I was working on the illustration for the scene, a realization hit me: using Hermione as the barmaid makes zero sense when I already have a proper fantasy barmaid character—Iris. As a result, I scrapped all the Hermione stuff in favor of Iris. Which is a shame, considering I had a perfect parody name for her: Hermoany! XD

Never played PQ on SC34. Do I need to update SC34?
The most current version is the one that contains the first seasons as a whole. But at this point I think you should just wait until finish this updated and improved version of Princess Quest.

Honestly, I think Iris was the better pick anyway, not only does she fit the fantasy barmaid role way more naturally than Hermione ever could, but she’s also way safer on Steam. Way less chance of triggering copyright alarms compared to Hermoany. In the meantime, I guess April can finally take a break, no need to keep ‘giving of herself’ just to boost Channel 6 ratings while Reporter Trainer is on hold.
Exactly ^^ The main reason Hermione was there instead of Iris is that at the time of the Sim-Room event Iris did not join the ship crew yet ^^
I mean, censorship isn't really the correct term for what's happening with those games, particularly given they're full on remakes and not just ports. Especially Trails in the Sky, whose original XSEED localization script had its fair share of woolseyisms.

Steam is currently dealing with some shit as far as adult games are concerned, could end up being trouble later on. IDK if you heard about Collective Shout and the Visa/Mastercard payment processor issues.
Not only I did hear about this, I also talked about it couple of Monday posts ago. :) This whole situation is exactly what made me realize that there will be never a "right moment" I need to give it a try now.
Yeah, I don't touch games that re-anything games I used to love except SaGa Frontier... because they added in a cut character and nothing else. Good game by the way.
I agree, but I only became that way recently. I am actually a little bit surprised how long it took me to come to this realization, considering how many DEmakes have been released over the years. But better late than never. I really became a much happy gamer since I switched to the original games :) Just did a quick research on SaGa Frontier. Looks awesome. Added to the list. Thank you.

To be able to put the first season of SC34 on steam I would have to do A LOT of changes to it. I don't think it would be worse it. Let's see how it goes. I want to just test the waters with this little Sim-Room story first.

Sounds awesome, hope the games do well, about console the new portable by Xbox Will be 700, but also a mini pc capable of run steam so who knows, also who buy consoles when emulators are so good
I would not consider that XBOX thingy a proper console. From what I heard it's just Rog Ally with an XBOX sticker on it. Also those things cost a lot. I think the closed thing to a portative console PC is SteamDeck in the moment.-_-

Yeah, I had to replace all their names for obvious reasons. Still a bit upset about not being able to use "Hermoany" but Iris fits in much better.
