Development News 21 - All About VDE

I stubbed my toe... it hurts.

  • Lasting Connections version 0.1.5 is at 48%

  • New VDE Project version 0.1 is at 66%

Made some good progress with VDE. I have pretty much completed the entire backend script for the choices and dialogues on the initial release, so the only thing left to do now is continue making renders for them. Currently, a third of the way there, but I'm committed to release this project later this month, so I'm going full throttle on it.

No progress on LC this week. You see, Lasting Connections is simply too big of a project for my first time making a visual novel. I'm so used to just making novels, but seeing things the way they are, I'm literally just a nobody right now and have next to nothing on my name. I can't remake LC and make it smaller, that's like tearing down my passion to settle for something less, so I have to put it on hold for now as I'm trying to build up my portfolio.

VDE is much smaller in scale than LC just by the count of characters alone, it's something that I can probably finish in a tenth of a time faster. It's not a story between you and all the women in a 1-kilometer radius, no, it is a dedicated story between you and your wife, and a few other actors involved. The theme is love and relationship, but mostly, going to be loyalty.

I hope to get back to you next week with some good news, but I don't know what the future will hold for me. So, until then. I hope you all have a great day, and stay safe, everyone.

I love affectionate and loving stories with characters, having a work about a sincere and genuine relationship is all too rare. So many put in tension/drama/unfortunate themes just for the sake of it. Curious to see how you do VDE. <3
