"I didn't think I would survive his violence. Now I'm taking a stand to help others."

Farrah Lovell is a survivor of domestic violence. She didn't always get the help she needed from the system, and the scariest thing next to being in an abusive relationship is not getting out before it turns deadly. Farrah was almost murdered by her abusive ex-boyfriend. No matter if a survivor has endured an abusive partner for two dates or two decades, abusers have the possibility of escalating power and control into extreme violence, even murder, at any point.

Homicide is one of the leading causes of death for women under age 44. And nearly half of those women and girls murdered (3,519 in 2015 alone) are killed by a former or current intimate partner, according the CDC's latest findings. By telling her story, Farah Lovell is letting others know that it's possible to overcome both the trauma of domestic abuse and the injustice of the system. She is using her experiences to help others, and showing that there is a way out.

Listen to Farrah's story and seek help if you need.
